Vivian thought that Rabastan's theory was probably accurate; Theo had most likely fallen asleep waiting for her to get back. She couldn't help but laugh slightly as he said that he was 'pig-headed'. Yes, that was Theo. He had calmed down considerably over the seven years that she had known him, and he wasn't quite as cocky or obnoxious, but about this he would be extremely pig-headed.
She smiled slightly into the kiss as Rabastan's hands slid up her back, keeping her firmly in place. All thoughts of Theo left as she kissed him. Yes, he was Theo's father, and yes, she was Theo's friend, but they were both people in their own right, too, people completely outside of Theo. They both had so much more to them.
Vivian found it hard to believe that they had gotten to this point, considering how the night had started. And especially considering that they had only met that very night. When Vivian had first walked into the Hogs Head, Rabastan hadn't liked her at all, and wouldn't have trusted her to save his life. But now he trusted her, and unless she was very much mistaken, he seemed to like her rather a lot.
Rabastan commented on her wand core, calling her vicious, and Vivian smiled. She liked that. "We make quite the pair," she said, quietly, smiling before he kissed her again. She kissed him back, feeling more content than she could ever remember, and, now she thought of it, feeling more than she had in a long time. This was most definitely the most she had felt since she returned from her parents, by a long shot. At least Theo could be pleased about that; he couldn't deny it was what he wanted.
Vivian glanced at the clock, hanging on the wall opposite them, and saw that they were in the small hours of the morning. She was tired, but a part of her didn't want to sleep. She was worried that she would still get nightmares, even though she had so many other pleasant things to occupy her mind. And if they slept then it would soon be morning, and they'd both have to go their separate ways. "I suppose we'll have to get some sleep, soon..." she said, her feelings evident in her tone, looking at Rabastan and wondering if he was tired.

As Rabastan lay there with Vivian on top of him, saying that they made quite a pair and kissing him, he couldn’t remember a time when he’d ever felt that happy. Well, yes, he could, but even his time spent with Cecelia had been different from this. And he’d not feel guilty for finding another to spend time with like this, another woman to keep safe in his arms. Part of him could only hope that he’d do a better job of protecting her than he had Cecelia. He’d loved her so, but now he could scarcely remember her face. He stared at Vivian for a moment, a grin on his face. This was what happiness felt like, and it had been too long since he’d felt it.
”We’re quite a pair indeed,” he said with a grin as he kissed her forehead. He saw her look at the clock, and only as he realized the time did he realize all that had happened in the past few hours. It was funny to think that a few hours ago he was fully prepared to erase this girl’s memory, to cause her to forget ever even knowing about him. And yet here they lay together, and erasing her memory couldn’t have been further from his mind. As Vivian said they should probably get to bed he could hear the almost sadness in her voice. He frowned slightly, wrapping his arms the slightest bit tighter around her.
”I’ll be right here,” he attempted to reassure her, even though he was almost positive nightmares were the last thing on either of their minds. Still, he wanted to know that if she needed him he was there, and he would continue to be there… somehow. He wondered how they would keep in touch after this, but he wasn’t sure that was a conversation for right now. He would see her again, even if he had to ask Theo to bring her to the forest, or tell her to meet him there…. The details could be worked out another time. Rabastan didn’t want to think of anything but what was right front of him.

Rabastan wrapped his arms tighter around her, and Vivian could tell he knew what was on her mind. She wondered if he was worried about having nightmares too, and thought that if he was he didn't look it.
Vivian was reluctant to sleep, but her eyelids were heavy, and she knew she wouldn't be able to fight it much longer. "I know," she said softly in reply, smiling and then kissing him again. Tonight he'd be here, but in the morning she'd have to leave him. Vivian wondered if Rabastan would regret what had happened in the cold light of day. She knew she wouldn't.
She moved herself into a more comfortable sleeping position for both of them, her arms still wrapped tightly around him. Vivian kissed his chest one last time before closing her eyes, and letting sleep take her.
That night the nightmares danced around the edges of her mind, but didn't dare come any closer.
