Zeke was glad it was the weekend, he was happy to finally be free of the castle walls. Even though Zeke thoroughly loved Hogwarts, it sometimes gave the impression and feel of being in prison. With being required to wear the robes, and being told where to go and when to go there, the scheduled feedings, the curfews, just… all of it. Zeke was 17 years old, he was much too old to be told what to do. He couldn’t believe that he still had TWO years to go, he should have been on his last year here at Hogwarts, but because of the war he had to repeat his sixth year. It was ridiculous, and completely absurd in his opinion.
Zeke strolled along the streets of Hogsmeade, he would be meeting up with a couple of the quidditch guys at the Three Broomsticks here in a little bit, but he had about an hour or two before he needed to be there, so he figured he’d stop by Zonko’s Joke shop to pick up some…er…”Presents” for the first year Gryffindorks. Zonko’s was running a big “back in business” sale this weekend and Zeke wanted to make sure to take advantage of it. But as Zeke turned the corner to Zonko’s he quickly realized that he wasn’t the only one that had the idea to stop by to try and get a good deal this weekend. The place was packed. There was a line just to get in the doors; Zeke didn’t mind being around people, but being in a crowd like that and having to deal with all of them, having to rub elbows with all of those… Mug-bloods. Zeke shuddered, he would have to find somewhere else to kill time. He contorted his face trying to think, he really didn’t want to spend two hours at the Three Broomsticks waiting on the rest of the guys. Zeke remembered that he’d seen an advertisement for Honeyduke’s Sweet Shop who was also opening back up for the first time since the war, so he decided to head that way hoping that more students would be interested in Zonko’s.
As Zeke got close he realized that he had been right, the store was practically empty just a couple of stragglers that probably had wanted to avoid the mess over at Zonko’s, he walked in and took a deep breath through his nose. It didn’t matter how old you got, the smell of Honeyduke’s was intoxicating and it would always bring you back to the first time you stepped foot inside the shop. Bradley walked over and looked at the different pastry cases, looking around trying to figure out what he wanted, which was easy enough. He wanted it all. He turned to walk over to the candy section when he ran straight into another student. Zeke stumbled backwards but was able to keep his balance, he regained his composure and started to snap when he realized who he’d ran into.
Asoria Greengrass.
Zeke sighed, rolled his eyes and then stared at her; “Are you really stalking me now?” He and Astoria had erm…”dated” he guessed was the correct term, but once the war had gotten started Zeke had decided that he needed to cut his excesses baggage, and that included her. She hadn’t taken so well to it, she’d naturally tried to do the whole “I’m already over you anyway” routine, but Zeke hadn’t listened (Or cared if he was being honest) he just made sure that he had gotten all of his stuff back. There was still quite a bit of tension between the two of them however, but it was always like that when Slytherins broke up, neither one would ever be willing to admit that they were hurt, so it always turned venomous. Zeke stared at her for a moment, “Is there a reason you’re following me? something I can help you with? Or are you just looking for a booty call?” Zeke flicked his eyebrows up at her playfully before giving her a devilish grin.

She tried to remind herself that she didn't care. She tried desperately to hold on to that thread of indifference. However, behind her blue eyes, there was nothing but resentment and anger, sadness and defeat. Hogsmeade trips were usually spent trying to find a quiet corner to curl up and be alone. This time, she gave in to a craving for sugar. Most importantly, a craving for cupcakes. So she stalked into Honeydukes to find just that. Sadly, they didn't have cupcakes. So she would browse the shelves and find something that would satisfy her craving. If all else failed, she'd stalk into the kitchen and bake cupcakes. It wasn't like the elves would mind. Today, she was trying to escape the stresses of being a Slytherin. She hated being one of the top dogs, the one that everyone looked to. The one that everyone expected to fail. The one everyone silently hoped would fail. AJ had been giving in to her anger lately. The mirrors were only the start of a self-defeating cycle that had cost her sleep and a lot of times cost her the last threads of strength that kept her from breaking down and crying all the time. In all honesty, Astoria Jillian Greengrass was lonely. And not thirsting for an intimate relationship either. She just wanted someone to talk to, since everyone seemed to be so shifty. She couldn't be seen convening with her Ravenclaw friends, either. So she had spent most of her time in her dormitory, brooding and drawing in her sketchbook. When she wasn't in the dorm, she was training her body. Despite the fact that she was nice and lean, she knew she wasn't eating even to sustain her. Perhaps tempting herself with sugar would get her back into her normal healthy routine of eating. However, she didn't know where she wanted to start. She ditched the rest of the Slytherins long before anyone had gottena grip of what they wanted to do in Hogsmeade. She knew she wanted to go to Honeydukes, and then drown her worries away at the Hog's Head. Eat candy and get shitfaced. That seemed like the only acceptable thing to do. She allowed her gaze to sweep over the many candies and settled for chocolate. Why? Because it looked too damn good, that's why. Satisfied with her choice, she spun around only to walk into a certain Zeke Maxwell. "Son of a bitch," She muttered, being scared half-to-death and feeling a wave of indescribable emotion seize her being. However, she'd play it off like she always did. There was no other option. "Only in your dreams would I want to stalk you, Zeke. I know you too well I wouldn't want to hang around to be reminded of what you do in your free time..." If AJ respected one thing about the man before her, it was that he was definitely respectful of her boundaries. She had pressed the fact that she wasn't interested in sleeping with anyone, not even her boyfriend. Despite angry grumbling, Zeke had respected her choice. He was caring nonetheless. However, she sometimes blamed her choice to stay pure the reason why he left. She knew it wasn't the case, but the thought of not being good enough still burned in the back of her mind. Second best. Perhaps that is why she despised Daphne as much as she did. The raven-haired girl merely flashed a perfect smile, laughing at his words. "Being single isn't awful, Zeke. Unlike the other girls I can handle not having someone to suck my face off every ten seconds..." She mused, thinking to her sister. "But nonetheless, hello old friend. How's life?" Zeke had always been someone she had confided in. He knew her darkest secrets. How she hated herself. How she never felt good enough. How she never intended to have to claw her way to the top. He and Eli knew her better than anyone else. So it was a relief to be around someone she was comfortable with. Even if the past burned her like a hot knife piercing through her body. But pain was something she became used to. After all, training herself as vigorously as she did sometimes brought hours of agonizing pain as she rebuilt her muscles and learned to tolerate anything. Discipline was something she needed more of, and maybe then she'd be able to stand tall and fear nothing once more.

Zeke rolled his eyes at Astoria’s pathetic attempts at digs towards him, he knew she was still bitter towards him for breaking up with her. She had tried to act as if she moved on, but Zeke knew better, he caught her sneaking looks at him when they were in the common room, and she still wore a Slytherin Quidditch jersey with his number on it. He’d heard her claim that it was only because she couldn’t find a different number, but Zeke knew better. “I seem to remember you rather enjoying me sucking your face off every ten minutes… In fact, if my memory serves me well, you were rather insatiable when it came to our little… how should I put it nicely… face-sucking sessions?” Zeke gave her another smirk, he couldn’t lie; he had rather enjoyed his relationship with her, even if she did have this pesky issue of wanting to remain pure for her wedding date. What type of Slytherin was she? Zeke had always wondered if she wasn’t supposed to be a gryffindork with her whole concern about remaining pure.
“Things are going good for me. Classes are classes, I think the fact that we all have to repeat our grades it’s absolutely ludicrous. They should have offered all of our exams and at least given us the opportunity to advance. I mean, you could easily pass your OWLs, the fact that they wouldn’t even give you the chance is an insult to your own intelligence.” Zeke hadn’t realized his compliment to her, he was simply trying to keep conversation going. Deep down, Zeke missed his long talks with Astoria, they’re relationship had started because of their friendship, they had been very close friends, confiding in one another frequently. Zeke had trusted Astoria as a confidant and Astoria had done like-wise. The only reason Zeke didn’t fear Astoria telling all of his deepest darkest secrets was because Astoria knew that Zeke could do the same to her.
He gave Astoria a quick once over, not caring if she noticed him checking her out. She was getting rather lean, not that she was ever fat or even remotely close to it. But she looked way too thin, almost sickly. “Are you taking care of yourself AJ?” Zeke asked with a very uncharacteristic concern in his voice. He was a borderline sociopath, but for some reason he had a soft spot in his heart for Astoria, she was a weakness for him, and that might have been part of the reason he had cut his ties with her during the war. Weakness could not be tolerated, and Zeke knew that. But the war was over now, and he wanted to make sure that Astoria was at least taking good care of herself.

Once upon a time, she loved him. Once upon a time, she felt like it could've lasted forever. Like leaves floating on the wind, those memories of once was floated off into the horizon. Now she was left with wondering what to do next. As he addressed her, she chewed on her lower lip and tried to mask the feelings that were threatening to gush out. In all reality, she had never been this stressed in her entire life. So she tried her best to play it off. However, he'd see through it. AJ knew he'd see through it. "See, then I grew up. You're a great kisser and all, but...That's just not what I want with my life right now. I've got too much to do, too little time," She murmured quietly. But this couldn't be the case, could it? There were reasons behind her holding onto his jersey, and other things that reminded her of him. But it wasn't because she was desperate. It was because she wanted to hold onto life before the war. Life before everything changed. She realized the better life happened before the war. But a lot of it was contributed to her growing up. A lot of it was contributed to her not wanting to turn out like everyone else that she knew. But she realized that she did miss him, despite all the things that happened around the same time and how she tried to pass it off as "just another reason why everyone should shut the hell up and work through their problems." "Besides, the great Zeke Maxwell is single and on the prowl," She purred, glancing over him once or twice. "There's some other feisty vixen with considerably less morals than I that would die for your affections, good sir." At his comments she merely shrugged. School was her escape. Thinking was her paradise. "It doesn't bother me like it does other people. It's just another excuse to be away from home. Hopefully I'll be able to establish something for myself by the end of seventh year so I don't have to go back home..." AJ loved her family and all, but there was just a point where she couldn't handle them. She was a very independent creature, and she made damn sure everyone knew it. She never wanted anyone to assume she'd submit into being some orderly, perfect little housewife off the bat. In all due respect, she would prefer to live the rest of her life doing her own thing. But that brought up the nasty spot of her purity case. If she didn't want to get married but was interested in boys, would she go the rest of her life without experiencing...That? Contemplating that thought, she brought hands to her hips and caught his gaze as it swept over her. "Ah, so you still undress me in your head," She commented teasingly, however the thoughs behind those words were unknown even to her. The raven-haired girl merely laughed and shook her head, but his question got her. Automatically, she'd want to respond with something characteristically sassy and snappish, but she couldn't bring herself to it. At least, not for Zeke. He deserved to know. "Life's railing me right now, but other than that, yeah. Trying not to get expelled for doing anything too stupid, you know?" AJ said, smiling. But she wasn't convincing. She knew that. Inside she ached. Inside she didn't know what she wanted anymore. Inside she wanted to scream and cry. But on the outside, her face was nothing more than a mask. She just flashed her trademark evil little smile, laugh a bit, and act like she was a goddess. But that wasn't the case, was it? The fact that she trained herself into great exhaustion each day was proof that even the great Astoria had flaws, and that she did everything she could to compensate for them. Even if it meant destroying herself in the process. Realizing that she was standing there in her infamous awkward silences, she scuffed a boot against the floor of Honeydukes, and then looked up at him. "I'll be fine." Opening up her bag of chocolates, she popped one into her mouth and then gazed at the door. A genuine evil smile crossed her face and she tapped him playfully. "Let's dip. This place is kinda a drag after a little bit."

Zeke smirked playfully, “You know for a Slytherin Girl… you’re one hell of a bad liar.” He shot her a playful wink before leaning in close to her, he delicately brushed her hair back behind her ear letting his fingertips graze the outside edge of her ear as he put his mouth less than an inch away from her ear, letting his breath brush across it as he gave her a low and quiet whisper “You’re trying to tell me that if I took you into a nice and dark corner you wouldn’t be interested in a nice little snog session… you know, for old times sake?” Zeke lightly blew out a stream of cold air tracing the rim of her ear before stepping back and giving her a smirk, he could tell she still had feelings, and who could blame her? Zeke would be a hard person to get over, so he couldn’t hold it against her.
Zeke shrugged off her statement, “You know me… it’s the chase that’s fun. No to say that those girls aren’t fun… but they’re not exactly the type of girl you bring home to mamma. She wants me to find a well-mannered, high-class lady to marry and give her grandchildren. She doesn’t want me slumming with those slutty hufflepuffs.” It drove his Mother nuts when she’d hear about her pride and joy associating with a hufflepuff or a ravenclaw, he remembered the one time he had been busted snogging with a half-blood Ravenclaw and his mother had sent him a howler telling him if he needed to snog to snog a girl that wouldn’t taint the family bloodline.
Zeke gave Astoria a warm smile, not his typical politician smile, but an actual smile. It was the type of smile Zeke only gave his closest friends, the people he actually cared about; the type of smile few people would ever be lucky enough to see. “I’m sure the ministry or some wizarding big-wig company will scoop you right up. You’ve got great marks, and I’m sure you’ll score fantastically on your OWLs and then even better on your NEWTs. You’ll be just fine AJ.” Zeke once again flashed her a warm, reassuring smile, it was his way of telling her that everything would be ok.
“Only because you’re too prudish to let me undress you in my bed” Zeke flashed her a playful wink trying to help lessen the tension about the question, he could see it in her body language that the question had not set well with her. Astoria had tried to laugh it off and act as if everything was ok, but Zeke knew her better than that; he was able to look straight through her façade and call her out on what’s really troubling her. Then she came clean, admitting that she was having some hard times. Zeke’s body reacted before his mind did as he reached out and placed a comforting hand on her cheek, gently cupping the side of her face. “What’s going on Astoria?” Zeke looked her in the eyes, his own political façade had dropped completely; his only thoughts were now about helping his close friend and finding a way to help her.
Zeke reached into her bag of chocolates and quickly snatched one and popped it into his mouth giving her a playful smirk, “Lead the way kiddo.” He teased her slightly, knowing that it bugged her to be called kid or kiddo. It wasn’t in her personality to be belittled or thought of a child, it was probably one of the reasons her and her sister fought so often; Daphne would always see Astoria as her kid sister and Astoria had grown up quite a bit, she was quite the woman; at least in Zeke’s opinion.

An amused smirk crossed her lips and she laughed quietly, shaking her head in thought. He certainly was one to joke around if he knew that he could get away with it. "I think it's funny you think that I'm lying," Astoria muttered dryly, shaking her head and laughing again. Maybe she was only kidding, but then again she probably wasn't. No one would ever figure out what exactly went on in her head. However when he neared she visibly tensed for a moment, but then decided to play along. At least she'd satisfy him by playing along with his games. A small smirk crossed her lips and she giggled quietly, bringing her fingers up his defined torso to rest on his shoulder, her fingernails grazing his skin ever so slightly in a teasing gesture. Glancing over at him, she allowed herself to submit to the game. "Or maybe I could just leave you dying for the satisfaction of holding me close again, my dear." She wasn't one to play nice, either. So if he decided to pursue, she'd seduce him. It was all she could do to keep herself feeling like she wasn't in control. Granted, she knew she wasn't. But she'd play along either way. However, it would taste a lie to say she didn't enjoy his affections. "Your mother's still freaking out about your escapades? You're still young, for god's sake! You know better than to get a girl knocked up, too..." She murmured, getting almost angry with his mother's ignorance. "Ah, yes, you do enjoy chasing the ones with the innocent eyes who aren't so innocent in one's bedchamber." Of course, she wouldn't mention anything similar to the word 'slore,' for everyone's sanity's sake. Nonetheless, she was thinking it. Then she decided to add something decently snarky. "Look for someone who's pureblooded and has good birthing hips. Your mother would go crazy for one of those, since that's what all the mothers go apeshit for. But avoid Pansy Parkinson like the plague, will you? She has the physical attributes of a slightly obese twelve year old boy." It wasn't a party until AJ added something relatively bitchy to the context. The fact that Zeke smiled at her made her just want to reverse back to a year ago, when school was starting, when they were together. When she had actually considered giving him what he wanted because she cared about him. And it all came flooding back, looking at his genuine smile. Besides being a handsome face, he had a heart. That within itself was what kept them together for almost three years. That's why looking back caused her so much pain. "I'm just hoping my family didn't arrange for me to marry someone. Because then that's when I'll become homicidal. I am not marrying someone without my consent. I know that there's dowry and whatnot to consider but I--I'm not the type of girl to want to be stuck the rest of my life." She then shrugged. "I suppose I'll do fine if I don't fall asleep during it..." She laughed quietly at what he said, rolling her eyes. "That could change sooner than I thought," AJ murmured to herself, then realized the magnitude of those words. "And certainly not in your favor!" She added quickly, winking and sticking her tongue out playfully. Then the air got tense again, when the focus was on her state of health. She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, feeling the warmth of his skin. Warmth she felt as if she was undeserving of. However, here he stood. Zeke didn't have to be here. He could be with his friends. But here he was, standing there with his hand on her shoulder and searching his soul with his warm eyes. She knew she was ultimately powerless to his scrutiny. He'd find it without even having to exert much effort. "I...I don't want to fight anymore, Zeke. It's not worth it. We're supposedly in peace time but I feel hostility around ever corner. The world hates us. Our own families hate us...Everything changed and now I'm suffering after years of being naive to the sorry state of things..." But as quickly as he took a chocolate, she shook of that deep state of thought he'd eased her into. She liked it when things were playful. She liked it when she didn't have to care. "Hog's Head," She murmured, punching him in the arm with a playful smile. "Just because I might be the baby of the bunch doesn't mean I'm a kid, okay?" Striding off into the crowds of Hogsmeade, she hoped to god he wouldn't get lost within the chaos.

“I don’t think I know you’re lying. You’re a terrible liar, you always have been. You’ve got a tell.” Zeke smiled playfully. It was true, she had a tell, but Zeke couldn’t describe it; it was the way she shifted her body, or carried herself, it was very subtle and Zeke could just tell that she was trying to lie to him. He guessed that was the type of understanding of each other that came with a three year relationship.
He felt her body tense as he got close to her, it was the closest they had been to one another since they broke up before the war. He scoffed at her attempt to dig at him about the longing desire to hold her; Zeke wasn’t lonely, he could have companionship any night that he required it, but it was always something different with Astoria. Maybe it was the never-ending chase that she had been for him, the constant chasing but never quite fully attaining what he desired. He couldn’t understand it, it was so much different with her, infuriating and exhilarating all at the same time. He felt her hand trail up his torso and then her nails moving lightly against his skin, it was so subtle and yet it was driving him insane with desire. It was one of the small things she use to do to get him worked up and she knew the effect it had on him, it was yet another type of understanding that came with a three year relationship. He reached up and wrapped his hand around hers and delicately pulled it away from his shoulder giving her a disapproving look, “Now, Now. No cheating Astoria”
Zeke shrugged slightly, “Yep, still freaking out. It’s not that she’d care if I got a girl knocked up; she just wants that girl to be of pure blood and good social standing.” Zeke’s mother had been particular in choosing his Father as her mate, she had made sure to select someone that was of pure-blood and very good social status. She had made it crystal clear that he was to do the same and anything less would not be tolerated. Zeke made an obvious examination of Astoria’s hips with a playful smile on his face, “Hmm…” Zeke grabbed one of Astoria’s hands and lifted it up, spinning her slightly in place to give himself a better look on his examination. “Those would probably do.” Zeke gave her a playful wink as she finished her spin so she was once again facing him.
Zeke shuddered at the thought of an arranged marriage, he was glad that the practice was only forced upon the females and not the males, he could only imagine the potential suitors his Mother would pick out for him. Probably someone more along the lines of Pansy Parkinson or even worse maybe one of the Gryffindor girls for better political balance. “You’re assuming that there is someone that would find you worth paying a dowry.” Zeke gave her a wicked and playful grin, they both knew someone would be willing to pay whatever Dowry her Father was asking, it would just be up to her to try to find a proper suitor before that happened.
Zeke raised a questioning eyebrow, she had always been so firm in her stance about waiting until she was married, she had wanted to remain ‘pure’. “What do you mean AJ? Because I KNOW you don’t mean what I think you mean.” Zeke gave her a concerned look, he really wanted to know what was going on in her head right now, he wanted to understand why she was changing so rapidly from the innocent little girl he had known last year.
Zeke felt himself stiffen slightly, he knew exactly what she was talking about, the world was angry at the Slytherin household, they were all feeling the same tension, that feeling of constantly needing to be on guard, all of the complaints about the house, the petitions to have the house disbanded from Hogwarts, it was an outrage. “We don’t need to fight. Fighting will only make it worse Astoria; violence is not how we are going to solve and win this war. We are going to need to take a more strategic and political approach to things.” Zeke smiled, he didn’t want to get into things too much now because he wasn’t sure who was listening and who was not.
Zeke reached out in the crowd and grabbed Astoria’s hand, simply because he didn’t want to get separated in the crowd from her, which was easily done in the rushing crowds of Hogsmeade, especially on a weekend like this with all of the sales going on. “Hogshead? Are they going to let you in there? A little rough of a crowd for you don’t you think?” Astoria was not exactly a rough and tumble type of character and she didn’t seem to fit in with the Hogshead crowd in Zeke’s opinion and he wasn’t sure he liked the idea of her going there. Astoria scoffed, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "Well I know you're just trying to convince yourself that, love," She murmured in a response, her dark eyes narrowing ever so slightly. However, she meant to play. It was all a part of her game. She just took stabs at him just to take stabs. She didn't dislike him in the least bit. She just wanted to mess with his head a little bit. Most importantly, she was more aware than what she let on. Beneath her fingertips, she could feel his aching desire. However, she let a too playful smile cross her lips when he scolded her. "But when do I play by the rules?" Of course, there was truth in that statement. She never played by the rules. At least, not anyone else's rules but her own. She gave her long hair a delicate toss, her loose curls dancing and settling once more as she looked up to glance over his frame again. Listening to him, she let her mind wander to the types of girls she could see him with. She could see him with a beautiful, busty blonde who was soft-spoken yet had a fire to her. Definitely not a "true-blooded, traditional" Slytherin, but someone who had the attitude on the outside. He needed someone intelligent, brave, and loyal. Most importantly, someone who would help him with his political conquests. She realized she fit everything except for the political category. Then again, they were just a childish relationship. One they'd held onto since she was thirteen. Did she honestly believe that it would last? "Then marry a damn Gryffindor or something. But that's not you at all....Get a mail-order Russian bride," She suggested, with a playful grin. Nonetheless, she'd kill him if he mail ordered a bride. "See, then there's people like me who will just refuse to marry any sort of suitor unless I've properly fallen in love with them without my mother forcing me to." When he spun her she felt the obvious heat rising in her cheeks and she crossed her arms. "I bet you'd enjoy breaking them in, too." However, a part of her wouldn't mind it if Zeke were the one to "break her in," so to say. Then again, she chased the thoughts from her mind and blinked, her large blue eyes reflecting tons of confusion and pain regarding the future. Oh, how she hated to think she had another year until her blasted mother could start the process of selling her off. She rolled her eyes at his comment and shrugged. "If they don't, more of a chance for me to marry for love rather than for money." She was definitely not a conventional Slytherin and she knew that. She hoped to god that he'd never group her with them, but knowing him he'd realize what a mistake he'd make if he did. "Oh, you know what I mean. You know damn well what I mean. Part of it is teenage rebellion and giving my mother the metaphorical middle finger." But she didn't want to continue to talk about it. She smiled, allowing her eyes to rest upon his. "But don't worry. I won't let what you've felt entitled to be wasted on someone unworthy." AJ's face darkened. "We all fall for one person's mistakes. Granted, I take no side, but if we were to try to 'clean up' the wizarding world, attacking muggleborns isn't the way to do it. We've got to understand what sets out a person from being a wizard and what doesn't. From there, then we can clean up the gene pool. Then we can reform governments according to such and continue to live peacefully. That's all it takes, Zeke. Understanding and solution-focused first, then implementing." She enjoyed feeling the warmth of his hand and she gently tugged him away from the crowds. "Do you underestimate me? Well, if you're nervous, then we'll go to another place to hide." Her steps took them past the village and into a grove of tall oak trees, whose colors were starting to gradually turn and cast a yellowish-orange glow on the ground. She settled herself underneath a tree and leaned back against the rough bark, patting the ground beside her. "Or...Are you too scared to get your pants dirty?" She asked teasingly, a smile gracing her face.

Astoria gave herself away with her overly playful smile, he knew the instant that he saw it what game she was trying to play. She had always enjoyed playing hard to get with him when they had been dating, she would taunt and tease him for hours before finally giving in to him. Zeke had never minded in the end when she would finally give in and they would enjoy a rather intense snogging session together; at that point all of the teasing and getting each other worked up seemed well worth it. None the less, Zeke wasn’t exactly sure that this teasing session would be leading to that intense snogging session and would leave him all worked up without any relief. Zeke still couldn’t find a way to turn her down as he let go of her hand allowing it to return to his shoulder; deep down Zeke knew he was craving her affection, he knew nothing would come of it, but he still allowed himself the pleasure of once again feeling her touch against his skin. “Well, just for the record; This is cheating” Zeke looked down at her hand which had instantly gone back to lightly tracing on his shoulder with her fingernails, she was toying with him and Zeke couldn’t bring himself to stop her.
Zeke shuddered at the prospect of marrying a Gryffindor, the thought was appalling to him, “Gross. What would make you think that I want to marry a Gryffindork? They’re so…so… well, they’re so boring.” Zeke laughed slightly and gave her a smirk, “I don’t want a goody two shoes, I prefer my ladies to have a slight edge to them.” Zeke flashed her a playful smile, she knew that he had always admired her edginess. Zeke didn’t like to be bored, he didn’t want a push over, he thrived on competition and he needed someone that would push him and keep him motivated. “Not to mention that the whole Gryffindork gene-pool is tainted. Could you imagine the horror of having one of your children sorted into Gryffindor?” Zeke gave an over-dramatic shudder, “Yeah, I’ll be sticking to the Slytherin Gene-pool when it comes to reproducing.”
Arraigned marriages. Zeke wasn’t quite sure he understood the purpose of them, it was a tradition that even the muggles had disbanded and gotten rid of. Yet, the wizarding world still believed in them in full-force; How could they be behind the times when it came to the muggles? “Well, hopefully you find the love of your life before your mother finds your husband. That way he can steal you away and leave your mother furious because he didn’t pay the stupid dowry.”
He could see her cheeks flush slightly and her arms cross in a stand offish way, he simply chuckled to himself, he found it amusing when Astoria tried to act tough with him, he knew it would only take a grazing of his fingers across her cheekbone and she would melt into his arms and forget everything that she was angry about. At least, that’s how it use to work. He smirked at her comment about him breaking her hips in and raised an eyebrow, “If only you would be so lucky to get the pleasure of me breaking your hips in.” Zeke sent her a flirtatious wink as a smile forced it’s way onto his lips. She was one of the few people that could force him into smiling, his normal control of his facial expressions always seemed to go out the window when it came to Astoria.
Zeke’s smile dropped slightly as she made the comment about being rebellious and giving her mother the middle finger, this wasn’t his AJ, this wasn’t his Astoria. But then again, maybe that was the reality Zeke needed to face… This WASN’T his Astoria anymore, they were no longer together, she had told him that she’d moved on and he of course hadn’t believed it, but the way she was acting now was pretty close to convincing Zeke that maybe she had. At the very least, she’d changed. “But that’s not what it should be about Astoria. You’re first time shouldn’t be about giving your mom the finger. It should be about love and compassion; it should be something more than just a sweaty humping session to piss your mother off.” Zeke took a step and closed the gap between the two of them, delicately placing his hand on her cheek, looking into her dark eyes with his own light-liquid blue eyes. “I’m not entitled to anything, I just don’t want you to regret what you’re talking about doing. Don’t let this war change who you are…” Zeke softly grazed his thumb back and forth across her cheek, “Don’t let them win by changing you.” Zeke’s stare was intense but had sincerity behind it, a true concern and care. He hated the thought that Astoria was willing to sacrifice what she had been so adamant about.
Zeke smiled, this was why him and AJ had worked, their minds were so similar. “Exactly.” he believed whole-heartedly like she did, “The way to reform is not through the proverbially sword, it’s through the ministry. That was Lo…er…His downfall. We need to take over the ministry. Explain the wizarding world why this reform and change HAS to happen; explain the logic to them, then they will understand. So many dictators throughout history used armies to take over, but the second the people got the chance they overthrew that dictator. We have to convince the people to love us, and then… then they will be loyal to us and follow us where ever we lead them.” Zeke smiled brightly, he was glad that Astoria understood his plan; that she agreed with him before he even told her about it.
Zeke smiled as she led him to a large oak grove, they’d came here before; this at one time had been a favorite snogging spot of theirs. They would cuddled up under one of the large Oaks and just spend hours lost in the warmth of each other’s embrace. He rolled his eyes, as he sat next to her, “If my pants get dirty, I’ll just make you wash them… like a good little housewife.” Zeke smirked playfully as he quickly reached out and grabbed both of her wrists preventing her from being able to hit him, he had known the comment would justify him getting punched, but it didn’t mean he would make it easy on her to hit him.

The fact that she had changed definitely added a bit of an edge to her. She had become more uncaring, perhaps more frustrated with the world. Perhaps even more angry at herself. Her eyes darkened for a bit, being consumed by the ultimate downward spiral of her thought process. She knew that she missed him greatly, but at the same time she felt herself becoming less and less susceptible to human emotion. And even the pleasures of the skin didn't bring her back. She gave him a gentle squeeze, allowing her hand to drop by her side an a coy smile lighting up her face from the momentary hell she allowed herself to enter. "If you say so..." Of course, now it was a game. "I'll leave you be then and respect your little personal space bubble." AJ knew that the statement she uttered would drive him absolutely wild. A part of her missed that, but another part of her was giving into the nature of the game. She shrugged, and listened to him rant on. A part of him knew exactly what he wanted, and another part of him knew what he needed. But what he needed and what he wanted usually didn't go hand in hand. "In this world, sacrifices are necessary. But I advise you to do what you please rather than to please someone else." At that moment, she laughed quietly and realized she should probably take her own advice. With a shrug, she shook her head. "I'm going to move to Hawaii and live peacefully in my beachside villa. Hopefully with the person I love. But if not, I'll move anyway." Things had changed drastically between them, hadn't they? AJ certainly wasn't a kid anymore. She knew that too well. He was moving on. But were they just a kiddish relationship? She tried to convince herself that. She tried to pretend like it was a game. But it wasn't either. It was a selfish choice she made to play the game and to continue to lie to herself that it hadn't dragged on like it did...and was doing. And that she wouldn't mind getting back together. And that a part of her wanted to. And another part of her wanted to make that bad choice with him. But then her mind reasoned with her. He never loved you. You weren't good enough for him, anyway. It was that awfully painful voice that told her that she was worthless. It was the one that drove her being every day. It was the one that was making her become increasingly less and less human. Then she rolled her eyes. "I can't help but try to forget all your whispers to me in the common room about needing some sort of relief...About how I drove you insane and you couldn't stand it sometimes." Then her blue eyes darkened for a moment, and a wild smile crossed her lips. "Or am I remembering wrong, Zeke?" She knew their games were quickly dissipating into actual facts. Into being concrete. And she felt the need to run away in her mind, at least. But she couldn't bring herself to walk away. Talking of her choices lately made her disappear mentally though. She seemed to be a shell, for a certain amount of time before feebly answering. "Sometimes reasoning is harder to explain than I previously believe it is. It should mean something to me, and it will..." She then looked at her feet, and the flood of thought returned to her. The flood of anguish, confusion, anger, resentment...Everything that she bore upon her shoulders each day. Everything she hid behind a venomous tongue and a face that would never betray her. But her heart always did. And here, she was betrayed to him for what she was. Weak. Cowardly. Deceptive. Cruel. Spiteful. Self-Defeating. Inferior. Lazy. Ignorant. Manipulative. She knew damn well that her flaws haunted her. AJ knew that he saw through it all too. She felt naked to him. She knew he was stripping her of all her walls and picking her apart without even much effort. And how she wanted to retaliate! How she wanted to fight and scream and kick and cry until it all stopped. But there within itself, she realized she was still human. She was not perfect. She was no superwoman. And she came back to reality. But when it came to politics, she became truly alive. Because that was her comfort zone. She knew what to do but she had no motivation to do anything about it. "We will see another war in the next few years. But it won't be just any war...It'll be a revolution." AJ concluded, with a wide smile. It took her a few moments to take in the comment that he made and the fact that he'd grabbed her wrists. Then she struggled, wiggling and kicking and squealing in her dismay. "That's not funny at all!"

Zeke wasn’t sure how he felt about her dropping her hand, part of him had wanted her to keep her hand there, he missed the feeling of her touch against his skin; feeling her warmth against his body. It brought up a lot of good memories, a lot of memories he…well… he missed. Deep down Zeke knew he missed Astoria, he missed her companionship, but he wasn’t sure that they could ever go back to where they’d been, especially now. Zeke looked into her eyes for a moment and he couldn’t find the Astoria he had known, he couldn’t find the innocent loving girl he had known and loved. It was like going over to an old friend’s house after they’d moved. The appearance was the same, but the feeling was different. She’d changed, and Zeke wasn’t sure how he felt about it. ”I never said anything about respecting my bubble. Actually quite the opposite; I believe I actually gave you an invitation to find a secluded spot with me and completely abandon our personal bubbles and have a nice healthy snogging session. It was YOU that brought up the bubble.” Zeke gave her a playful, but he was still disturbed by the look in her eyes, he could tell she was different.
“Too many muggles in Hawaii, plus it’s too far away from the Ministry. There’s no chimneys there, so I’d have to apparate into London every morning and then walk into the ministry. No, that won’t do. How about a nice cottage outside London? Something nice and cozy, connected to the Floo-network? It would make it much easier on me.” Zeke smiled playfully, it was a conversation that they’d had numerous times about where they would live. The familiar topic brought back waves of emotions, making Zeke remember all of the long nights they’d spent together in random nooks and hiding spots throughout the castle; they would curl up together and just talk about everything, and then after they got bored of talking they’d snog. Sometimes they wouldn’t snog at all and would just talk the entire time, and sometimes they wouldn’t say a word to one another and just snog. Zeke felt a smile creep onto his face as he thought about those times, he felt his eyes trace over her lips as they stood there in silence. He felt the strongest urges to reach out and stroke her face, to lean down and press his own lips against hers.
As she brought up those same memories, talking about how Zeke had always tried to push for more, had always asked for some relief he smirked and shrugged. “Well, when you dry hump a 15 year old kid for two hours and then tell him good night… yeah he’s going to ask for a little more.” Zeke smiled playfully at her, “but you did always know how to taunt me with those hips…” Zeke threw her a wink as he very noticeably took a long look at her hips, clearly wanting her to catch him doing it.
“Just make sure it’s not some random guy, or for the wrong reason AJ. I don’t want you to regret it.” Zeke’s voice was soft and caring, he genuinely cared about Astoria and wanted her to know that he did. He didn’t want to see her give her most precious gift to some random guy with a good pickup line and a nice set of abs, she had waited too long for that, and endured too much taunting for her just to give it up to some random guy.
“Revolutions need someone to rally around, and the person that could have lead that was stupid and ignorant thinking that force is the only way to take control.” Zeke’s voice was filled with resentment, he felt that Voldemort had screwed up and approached things in entirely the wrong manner, he should have been more diplomatic and political. He needed to win the people over, not just take them over with brute force. “We will need someone else to rise to power, to try and give the Wizarding world someone to rally around.”
Zeke held tightly as she wiggled but ended up tumbling over with her as she struggled free, rolling in the grass with Astoria, trying to grab hold of her once again so she couldn’t get away, or get into a dominate position and hit him for his housewife comment. He rolled with her until he had her pinned underneath of him, his body on top of hers, he stared into her eyes for a moment realizing the awkwardness of the moment however, he quickly let go and got off of her, sitting back against the tree giving her some space. “Uh… I’m…. I’m sorry Astoria, I…well… I forgot for a moment.” Zeke was stuttering slightly, he was nervous, it wasn’t like him, but it could be that deep down part of him wished that he still could pin her down and not need to apologize later.

She glanced up at him once, twice, and then stared at her feet to grumble a few words to herself, mainly somewhere along the lines of "Blowing up my spot." However, in AJ's language that just meant he had treaded on a space she had already visited and decided that she may or may not want to continue going. She allowed her gaze to fall upon his face, but then she felt it. The fight to hold onto those emotions that kept her human. But in all reality, she wanted to fight. She wanted to have a temper tantrum. She wanted...Him. But she refused to admit it. Her eyes told no story other than that of a deeply confused girl. She refused to tell any other story than that. Astoria had definitely changed. She was a bit more mature, a bit more observant, but a lot more angry. And a lot less aware of how she was losing the inner battle. In all reality, she couldn't see the change. She only knew that she had an increasing amount of hatred that was growing, aimed mainly at those around her. But Zeke was different. She didn't hate him. She didn't know how she felt. But she felt a burning desire to be within his arms again. To be within a sanctuary. Elysium, some might say. But she found herself not wanting the company of humankind, either. She felt her deep hatred growing. And most of it was spurred by the indifference of those around her. But she realized deep in her heart that all the others fought the same battle. They all fought the same demons. "A vacation house, then," AJ suggested, smiling. It was so simple for her to change on a whim. She didn't think. She merely acted. Well she did think, but her actions came in flowing sequences that didn't require much effort to jump start. But this was too comfortable for her. This was too familiar. She knew she'd end up sabotaging her relationship. The slight burning sensation on her leg reminded her that soon enough it would all be over. And she'd get what she thought she wanted. But she didn't know. She then shrugged. "There will be time to discuss that someday. But...Maybe today isn't the day to plan the future, yeah? You never know." But then her mind wandered to the night of their breakup. It wasn't hostile in the least bit. She understood and supported him anyway. But then she remembered how she turned on herself. A part of her vaguely wondered if when she had sabotaged all her relationships and was truly alone, if she'd end up destroying herself in the process. Perhaps that is why she wished to avoid speaking of the future. To Astoria, it looked black. A bottomless pit of her hatred. But then he brought her back. She glanced up at him, feeling his eyes trace over her lips and when he spoke, her desire was restored. She was young, and she thirsted for something more. Hormones did that to a kid. "Maybe some day you'll get that gratification," She replied simply, also in response to his other statement. She had no intentions of just randomly choosing someone. She had a few people in mind she wouldn't mind being her first, and Zeke was on that list. But she wasn't going to go straight off the bat and say, Zeke, I'll let you have me. That wasn't her character at all. She'd be stubborn until the last dying moments, until she couldn't stand it any longer. But there she was, wide grin and all. Telling no secrets. That was the magic of a certain Astoria Jillian Greengrass. She then sighed and looked down at her knuckles, laden with scars from punching things and well worn from all the training she put herself through. "We need a public image that the people will like. Young, beautiful, and always having the right words to say. That would get the wizarding world excited. They'd pee their pants to have a decent-looking puppet setting up the revolution while the real masterminds pull the strings. Granted we wouldn't truly ever taste the glory but we'd see our puppets work." Astoria would never be a puppet. She always pulled the strings. She was definitely a dominant female in her public image yet behind closed doors she was weak. Incomplete. Just a mere image of her potential. Not even close. Perhaps she would go into politics, then. She'd allow herself to shine. But she looked at Zeke and then laughed to herself. It would be hard to work with someone that she knew truly. She wouldn't mind being alongside her sister though, since they'd get things done efficiently and with their charming good looks. AJ didn't mind one bit that he had pinned her. She was laughing and struggling and then their eyes met and it was over. She quirked a brow at him and crossed her arms, giving a sassy little toss of her head and a small 'hmph' to exaggerate the whole gesture. "So that's how it is, then? I see." She said, trying to feign indifference but she grinned wryly. All of her was saying to continue their game. So she inched forward so that her nose brushed against his and she could get a better look into his dark eyes. "I hope you realize you can't just leave me hanging like that. It's all or nothing, Maxwell." Just for today, she could forget how she shouldn't be doing this.

Zeke studied Astoria’s eyes, looking and longing for some type of signal as to what was going on in her head, he was concerned for her; she hadn’t been herself lately and it made Zeke nervous. Gone were the times of Astoria’s carefree laugh and giggle and it had been replaced by a solemn hatred of almost everyone. Granted she’d always had an edge to her, but that was par for the course when it came to Slytherins; but this… this was different.
“Deal. We can Vacation there, and even do the occasional weekend trip. It’d be nice to get away” Zeke smiled at Astoria, hoping to find some semblance of the girl that he use to know; his smiled dropped as she finished her statement. “Why isn’t today the day to talk about the future?” Zeke reached out and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, slowly caressing her with his thumb looking deep into her eyes. “Astoria; The war is over, we can focus once again on the future. Today is the day to talk about the future again.” Zeke’s eyes were soft and concerned, he wanted to know what was going on in her head.
Zeke stared her down, his expression changed from a soft caring expression to the way a predator would look at his prey. He gave her a playful smirk, “Don’t make false promises Astoria.” Zeke wasn’t sure how he felt about this change in her, part of him wanted to stop her and try to talk some sense into her, while another part of him wanted to find the nearest surface and help her rebel against her mother like she so desperately wanted. If it had been any other girl except Astoria, it wouldn’t be a conflict, they would already be on their way to the nearest form of privacy he could find. But Astoria was different, she wasn’t just some female for him to shack up with like most of his conquests were; Zeke cared about Astoria, he wanted what was best for her. He couldn’t just use her like every other girl. His smile returned, back to his normal caring one, his predatorial gaze lightening up, “You ought to be careful Astoria, I only have so much self-control. So you might want to decide what you actually want before we wind up in a situation that you do not want.”
He followed her eyes to her scared hands, he frowned deeply not taking his eyes off of them. “Well, those are new.” He reached out to her hands and lightly ran his fingertips over her scars, his eyes slowly trailed up to Astoria’s. His own eyes filled with regret and sympathy; what had he done to her? How could he have allowed this to happen to her? This was all his fault for running away when the war started. Regret flooded his body for not staying by her side during the darkness, but he knew he had done what was best. “We don’t have to fight anymore Astoria.” His words were soft, as he covered both of her hands with his own, engulfing both of her hands in his palms.
Listening to her description of what they needed Zeke couldn’t help but think of himself, he was all of those things, he knew he could and SHOULD be the face of this revolution. “It should be me. I should be the one that gets to be the face. Let’s face it Astoria, nobody has prepared themselves for politics more than I have. I know what to do, I know how to act. I’ve set myself up for this. The wizarding world will love me, and then I can make them realize that we are superior and that we should be taking our rightful spot over the muggles.”
Zeke’s breathing slowed as she inched towards him, he felt her nose press against her and listened to her voice as she challenged him. He whispered to her seductively, “What happened to respecting your bubble Astoria?” he asked, gently rubbing his nose against hers with an eskimo kiss, he reached up and tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, letting his hand linger there for just a moment, cradling her face and head in hand. Letting his lips hover an inch away from hers, knowing full well what he’s doing to her, letting the anticipation build up. Forcing her to make the first move.
OCC: Sorry it took so long and it’s so short, it’s been a hectic week.

The fact that he knew her so well made her skin crawl. She never let anyone get as close as he got to her...And now, she sat there as he read through the lies that she'd built up to keep people away. Certainly her intention was not to lie to him, but sometimes the mask was up. They did break up anyway. But sometimes it didn't feel like it. Sometimes it felt like they still were together. Most of the time, she wished desperately that she could be with him. Maybe it would erase some of her hatred. But he knew she fought. He knew she struggled. And now, he knew she would probably never be the same girl again. The war had changed her. The war had taught her to trust none...But she trusted him, didn't she? Quite frankly, she didn't know anymore. She smiled and laughed. "Oh yes, because you'd love to see me prancing around in a bikini..." She then reminisced on all the times her and Daphne would get hit on by muggles and how Daphne would nearly throw up every time they came near her while the younger Greengrass breathed it in. She gave her hair a toss and glanced at him. When he asked why she didn't want to discuss it, she shrugged. "The future is a nice notion but I don't know what it holds...And if I'll even see you again after Hogwarts..." She used to talk about how they'd always be together. How there would be no end to their relationship. But realistically speaking, she didn't know if they'd see each other that much. But she hoped so...She truly hoped she'd see him. "It's okay, Zeke, I've got this. And it doesn't have anything to do with the war anymore. At least not that war..." She then reminisced on a story that Professor Slughorn had told the Slytherins when things were getting really bad. "There is a war occurring in my head. It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too..." One person dared to ask which wolf would win. He simply replied with, "The one you feed." Astoria hoped that Zeke would understand exactly what she was referencing. Hopefully, he would. However, the subject changed. Gratefully, she fell into the swing of things. "Well, you don't know that for sure, do you?" She knew that she was inviting him in, setting herself up for something. But she wanted it. More than anything, she wanted it. But then again, she didn't want to give him the assumption that she was head-over-heels. Honestly, she could live without it. She could live without him or anything else. But like a drug, she craved him. And she wanted more. When he spoke of politics again, she shrugged. "Don't let them control you. Don't let them break you like they broke me." "Them" meaning society. "Them" meaning the materialistic face of the world. She knew that she'd been broken by those around her. But she knew that she'd become stronger each day knowing the demons she fought. "I'd vote for you. Hell, I'd help you as best as I could to make that happen. You deserve it." She then allowed herself to be pulled into the welcoming shadows of his affections. She glanced into his eyes and she giggled, enjoying the feeling of his touch against her skin. "I'd like to say that I am a respectable young woman, and keep my boundaries...But like most, I fall victim to my deeper desires..." And with that, her lips seized his in a longing and heated kiss, grasping the collar of his shirt and pulling him down onto the ground with her.

Zeke laughed slightly at the thought of her in a bikini, he’d seen her in one of course, he had gone on Vacation with her family the summer before the War. It had been a good time, Zeke got along great with her parents and even with Daphne; who seemingly got along with nobody except Theo and Archer. “I’ve seen you in a Bikini before… I wouldn’t mind seeing you prance around without it this time.” Zeke threw her a playful wink and grinned devilishly at her. This was what Zeke missed, the playful banter between the two of them, the ability to joke around without a care in the world. This was them. But then she had to ruin the moment once again, with her talk about the future and never seeing him again. “Are you saying that once I graduate Hogwarts you’re going to ignore me? Because I fully plan on trying to come back, and who is to say that once you graduate we can’t live in close proximity? Or go visit one another? The future holds what we want it to hold Astoria… You just have to be willing to take what you want.” Zeke looked longingly into Astoria’s eyes, taking a step closer to her, “What do you want, Astoria?”
Zeke smiled at the reference, it was something that they had talked about ever since Slughorn had said it to them; They had talked about which wolf was better for the world, and which wolf was needed. Zeke had figured out the answer last year during the war… “That war will never end… Each wolf needs the other to survive. You have to find your harmony, your own balance.” Zeke was still learning his own balance, but it made life easier when you realized that life wasn’t black and white, and to truly experience and live life you had to embrace the middle ground.
Zeke pursed his lips staring at her, he wasn’t sure how to take her; she was all but throwing herself at him and here he was trying to be noble and chivalrous; he was trying to protect her virtue and keep her pure. But why? Zeke couldn’t figure it out for himself, he was trying desperately to figure out why he wasn’t taking her up on the offer and taking her back to his dorm room and giving her what she was acting like she wanted. “Because you know it’s not what she wants”
His sub-conscious told him, he growled at it internally. That fact had never stopped him before, so why did it matter now? Why was Astoria different? She was beautiful, she was funny, and she was practically begging for it. “Why are you fighting this Zeke?” His other sub-conscious snapped at him. He could feel the two wolves inside of him growling at one another, circling each other ready to pounce on the other. He smiled softly at her, “Astoria, they can only break you if you let them…” He felt his hand go up and softly brush her cheek, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear and then lingering on her jawline for a moment while his eyes found hers. “Don’t let them break you.”Zeke was taken off guard as her lips seized his own, but he was not complaining as he returned her kiss with a desperation and hunger for her. He fell to the ground willingly with her, pinning her down on the grassy meadow, his hands running up her sides trying to pull her body closer to his own. He had missed her, he had missed this and suddenly his first self-conscious had fallen completely silent and his darker wolf was grinning at him proudly as it dawned on him. This was what he needed, this was what Zeke wanted; he needed Astoria. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
