God Modding
Generally speaking, God Modding is when you do something to someone's character that they did not give you permission to do. There are different ways you can God Mod,
Physical God Modding :: you cannot decide what another character does physically. Your character can hit someone, but you don't decide whether or not that character falls over, if they dodge the punch, etcetera.
Magical God Modding :: this is a more Harry Potter specific type of God Modding. You can shoot any spell you like at someone, but you can't decide if that spell hits. It is up to the other character whether they get hit by the spell or not. The other character could use a shield charm, or simply dodge out of the way.
Emotional God Modding :: you can't decide how another character responds emotionally. You can't say they started crying, got angry, looked happy, and so on.
Information God Modding :: your character can't know something unless it has been told to them. The other player may write paragraphs about what the other character is thinking, or about their deep dark secret, but unless it has been told to your character your character cannot know about it. The exception is if the other player says that something shows on the characters face, in their movements, their tone, etcetera; then, your character might guess something is up (but still not the specifics.
God Modding Example ::
This is acceptable:
This is an example of god-modding:
'Jack' can't decide how 'Tom' reacts, or even if his hex hits him.
