( LIKES ) :

• Animals ;; Lyra loves animals, and her favourite subject is Care of Magical Creatures. She likes to be alone with animals, and finds them easier to deal with than people. She often understands animals better than most, and has the uncanny ability to clam them down. Most animals like her.

• Outdoors ;; Lyra likes being around greenery, which goes hand in hand with her love of animals. She likes to be outdoors, in the fresh air, and feels most at peace there.

• Reading ;; Lyra likes to read, although she doesn't do much of it. She's too restless and impatient to sit still for very long, unless a book really captures her imagination.

• Exploring ;; Lyra loves exploring the castle, especially when she goes places she isn't supposed to. She likes breaking into locked rooms, or venturing up forbidden stairways. She also likes to be at the very top of the castle, and climbs out onto the roof to think.

• Music ;; Lyra can play the piano (although she hasn't had lessons for years) and has a beautiful singing voice. She likes to sing, but can get nervous when she's around other people. She doesn't like to show off.

• Breaking Rules ;; Lyra gets a thrill from breaking rules and defying authority. Her day isn't complete if she hasn't broken even one, small rule.

• Her twin brother ;; Lyra's brother is her best friend, and she loves spending time with him. She likes it best when its just the two of them alone, so she can relax.

( DISLIKES ) :

• Injustice ;; Lyra hates injustice and unfairness, and she finds it hard to just stand by and let it happen.

• Being cooped up ;; Lyra doesn't like being kept inside, or being bossed around and told what to do. She likes to feel free, and becomes petulant when she feels someone is trying to contain her.

• Cruelty ;; Lyra does't like to see cruelty, especially to animals. She loves animals, and hates that they can't always defend themselves.

• Being treated like a child ;; Lyra hates being seen as incapable, and her brother especially has a tendency to treat her like a little girl.

• Dressing up ;; Lyra doesn't like dressing up very much. She doesn't wear dresses (sometimes skirts), and she doesn't wear much make up. A lot of the time she goes without. She doesn't like vanity, and fussing over her appearance.

• Gentleness ;; Lyra has a gentleness to her, although it isn't often seen. Although she can be outwardly quiet sometimes, her gentleness isn't always so obvious.

• Personal strength ;; Lyra has been through a lot in her life, and has survived it. She has a hard road ahead of her, but she tackles it all with a quiet strength and courage.

• Pure minded ;; Lyra, in some respects, has a very innocent mind. Her thoughts are often untainted with want of personal gain. She likes to focus on things other than herself. However, Lyra is not naive, and has seen and experienced things that have aged her beyond her years.

• Lying ;; Lyra is an excellent liar. No body can ever catch Lyra in a lie, and she can look the picture of innocence, even when telling a whopper.

• Canny ;; Lyra is very astute, and intelligent. She is very shrewd for her age.

( WEAKNESSES ) :

• Stubbornness ;; Lyra is impossibly stubborn. She doesn't always have to get her way, but she refuses to be told what to do. When someone tries to boss her she will often do the opposite, just because she can.

• Reckless ;; Lyra can at times be reckless, and takes risks without taking for the sake of her curiosity and sense of adventure.

• Cheeky ;; Lyra can be cheeky at times, which can get her into trouble. She has a quick wit, and isn't afraid to push boundaries.

• Shyness ;; although in most situations Lyra is not at all shy, sometimes shyness comes over her, and she becomes very quiet, and seems much younger than she otherwise does.

( PERSONALITY ) :

As a young girl, Lyra was often quiet and reserved around strangers, but a little hell raiser around those who knew her. She was hard to reign in, and refused to do things like bathe, brush her hair, or wear pretty dresses. She liked to run wild outdoors, and would often terrify her mother by disappearing for the day. She would often show up covered in dirt. Lyra always loved animals, and would try to save injured birds or other small creatures she found. She took an interest in Care of Magical Creatures from a young age, and had lots of pets; she had an owl, like a lot of wizarding children, a cat, and a white ferret, whom she loved the most out of all. She was terribly upset when the Hogwarts rules said that she could only bring her cat and her owl.

Even as a child Lyra loved to explore, and had a thirst for knowledge that couldn't be sated by schooling. She and her brother were home schooled before Hogwarts, but Lyra especially used to try to get out of lessons at every opportunity; she preferred to read her own books, or go explore and learn her own way.

Lyra was often a petulant and stubborn child, and always hated being told what to do. She didn't like being bossed about, and still doesn't to this day. Lyra can be very charming and entertaining, and also has a lovely innocence about her which can be very endearing.

She is very intelligent and canny; not a lot can get past Lyra. She often notices things others don't, and even as a child she often understood what the adults were talking about, even when they thought she didn't. Now that Lyra is older she isn't quite so wild and petulant, and can be reasoned with (though she is still stubborn to a fault), but she definitely has a wild streak. Events in her life have aged her beyond her years, but at heart she can be young for her age.

( HAIR ) : Lyra's hair is a light brown colour, long, thick and straight (sometimes with a slight wave). She never styles it, and lets it fall naturally. It has the softness of 'virgin' hair, undamaged by constant styling
( EYES ) : She has large, bright blue eyes, which look innocent, while also seeming shrewdly intelligent.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : Lyra has a small face with delicate, petite features. Her face looks very young, especially since she rarely wears make up.
( BODY STRUCTURE ) : Lyra is average height, about 5'7", and around 120lbs. Her body is sender and young, but soft, with the first traces of feminine curves beginning to show.

( HISTORY ) :

Lyra and her brother were born on the 13^th of December 1981. Her brother was born five minutes before her, technically making him older; he always refers to Lyra as his 'little sister'. Lyra's father, James Avery, had been at school and friends with Severus Snape. When they left Hogwarts the two of them, along with Mulciber, became Death Eaters. Avery met his wife, Alvah, another Pureblood and former Slytherin, at Hogwarts (although she was two years behind him). She supported him as he joined Lord Voldemort, as they both came from old wizarding families who believed in he pure blood of wizards, and disliked muggleborns.

However, after only a few years in the Dark Lord's service, James Avery was having doubts about having gotten in so deep, and was afraid of what he was being asked to do. With his wife pregnant, Avery was hoping for a way to escape the duties of being a Death Eater. And then what had before seemed impossible happened; Voldemort vanished, supposedly dead, and Avery was free. He told the ministry that he had been acting under the imperious curse, and escaped Azkaban. A little over a month later his children were born.

Lyra and her family lived a happy life for thirteen years. Their family weren't extremely wealthy, but they were comfortably middle class, and had everything they needed. Although Lyra and her brother were not sorted into Slytherin, as was the family tradition, their parents didn't mind so much; after so many years following Voldemort's extreme agenda, they were happy to be free and maybe even slightly more accepting.

Then, on June 24^th, 1995, when Lyra and her brother were thirteen, her father felt the dark mark burn again. It had been growing clearer for months, and Avery had been struggling with what to do. When the time finally came for him to make the choice, he apparrated to the graveyard where Voldemort was reborn. It would have been almost impossible for him, his two children and his wife to go into hiding, and if he didn't go to Lord Voldemort he would pay for it. He grovelled at Voldemort's feet, admitting that he hadn't searched for him, that he had believed him to be dead. Voldemort forgave him, but saw in his mind that he was not loyal. Avery watched as Voldemort killed a student at his children's school, and tried to kill Harry Potter.

During the summer of 1995, before Lyra's third year at Hogwarts, she was aware that the Dark Lord had returned, and that her father was involved some how (although she didn't know to what extent). Lord Voldemort could see into James Avery's mind, and knew that he wasn't entirely loyal, and that he would leave the Death Eaters if that were possible. Voldemort became obsessed with hearing a prophecy in the Department of Mysteries, and Avery told him that it would be possible to retrieve it by putting Unspeakable Boderick Bode under the imperius curse. However the plan failed, and Bode went mad trying to take the prophecy. Avery was punished with the crutiatus curse, but Lord Voldemort decided that wasn't enough. He needed to terrify Avery into following him, so he could be assured of his loyalty, and punish him for his costly mistake, for now members of the Order were sure that Voldemort sought the prophecy.

In August, 1995, Voldemort sent Fenir Greyback, the werewolf, after Avery's children. He was under orders to bite, but not kill, one of them, with the threat of death if Avery disobeyed again. Lyra was in the woods behind her house playing with the animals that lived there, when Greyback tracked her down. She heard him in his wolf form before she saw him, and knowing animals as she did she knew at once that this wasn't an ordinary wolf. She tried to run, but it was getting dark, and she couldn't see which direction Greyback was coming from; she only heard his growls. He pounced, and bit her hard on the leg. Her screams could be heard all the way up at the house, and her family came running, her brother in the lead. They took Lyra back up to the house, and tried to heal her as best as they could. But the damage was done, and on the next full moon Lyra transformed into a werewolf.

The transformation was excruciating, and afterwards Lyra was shaken and cried for days. She couldn't go back to Hogwarts right away; she took a few months at home, while arrangements were made. Her brother was forced to return without her, and hated every minute of it, worried about his sister.

Lyra returned to Hogwarts in November of her third year, with the same precautions in place that had been enforced when Remus Lupin was at Hogwarts. Once a month, at the full moon, Lyra would take the Wolfsbane potion made for her by professor Snape, and be escorted down to the whomping willow. She would sneak up to the shrieking shack,and transform. The rumours that the place was haunted quickly started up yet again.

Avery wrote to his old school friend and fellow Death Eater, and begged him to take care of his daughter. He knew that Snape was the one who would provide the potions that would make Lyra's transformations slightly more bearable. Snape agreed.

Despite the teachers best efforts, rumours of Lyra being a Werewolf spread around the school. Her brother always defended her fiercely, and got in fights with other boys because of it. No one ever had any proof, and the rumours remained just that, although they did the job of making Lyra's life very difficult.

Her father, Avery, now terrified to show any disloyalty to Voldemort, fought in the battle at the Ministry of Magic against Harry Potter and the rest of the DA. Lyra and her brother remained at Hogwarts during the year while Severus Snape was headmaster. Luckily for Lyra Snape remembered his promise, and continued to make her the Wolfsbane potion she needed. Their father fought in the final battle, and was killed.

Now Lyra and her brother have returned to repeat their 5^th year at Hogwarts, Lyra still battling with Lycanthropy.
