Dogwood - Dogwood is one of my own personal favourites, and I have found that matching a dogwood wand with its ideal owner is always entertaining. Dogwood wands are quirky and mischievous; they have playful natures and insist upon partners who can provide them with scope for excitement and fun. It would be quite wrong, however, to deduce from this that dogwood wands are not capable of serious magic when called upon to do so; they have been known to perform outstanding spells under difficult conditions, and when paired with a suitably clever and ingenious witch or wizard, can produce dazzling enchantments. An interesting foible of many dogwood wands is that they refuse to perform non-verbal spells and they are often rather noisy.

Billywig Stinger - Australian insect sting causes giddiness and levitation. Good for Charms. Tends to bond to happy-go-lucky individuals and pranksters. Extremely temperamental. Inclined to Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.

( EXPECTO PATRONUM! ) : Mel’s best memory is from when she was younger. She and her father were playing in the park, and he was pushing her on the swing, and she swung off, but remained floating in the air for a few seconds more than normal. It was her first experience ‘flying’ and it’s something that she’s always kept close to her heart.

( DEMENTOR'S KISS ) : The car accident she and her family were in. She broke a leg, an arm, and three ribs.

( MIRROR OF ERISED ) : Mel’s greatest desires is adventure. She wants to explore as much as she can.

( PERSONALITY ) : Mel is lively, fun, and enjoys being the center of attention. She lives very much in the here-and-now and relishes in excitement and drama in her life. She has strong inter-personal skills and likes to play the role of peacemaker. She’s a very sympathetic person and has great concern for for other people’s well-being. She’s generous, warm, and selfless. She’s observant and can sense when other people aren’t quite themselves, even if they don’t say anything about it. She’s not the best person to go to for advice because she dislikes theory and future-planning, but she is great for giving personal care and sympathy toward people.

Mel is spontaneous and optimistic, She loves to have fun. She sometimes can be over-indulgent and place more important on immediate sensation and gratification than on her duties and obligations. That can sometimes get her in trouble when she spends too much time with other people, mostly boys, when she should be doing her homework or something. She doesn’t mind so much, though. She avoids looking at long-term consequences of her actions. She prefers to live in the present and not worry about what could happen. She loves being the center of attention and to perform for people. She’s constantly putting on a show for others to entertain them and make them happy. She likes making other people laugh and finds herself to be extremely good at it. She would love nothing more than for life to be a continual party, in which she plays the role of the fun-loving host. One of Mel’s greatest gifts is her general acceptance of everyone. She’s upbeat and enthusiastic, and genuinely likes almost everybody. The one thing she dislikes is when other people think they’re better than someone else for any reason. All people are the same, and they all deserve to be treated the same. Once crossed Mel is likely to make a very strong and stubborn judgment against the person who crossed her, and she’s very capable of deep dislike in such a situation.

When Mel is under a great deal of stress gets overwhelmed with negative thoughts and possibilities. She’s an optimistic individual and lives in a world of possibilities. Negative possibilities do not sit well with her. In an effort to combat negative thoughts she tends to come up with simple, global statements to explain away the problem. The explanation may not truly get to the nature of the issue, but they help Mel to get over the negative thoughts. These tendencies may cause others to see Mel as somewhat immature, but she doesn’t mind very much.

Mel hates structure and routine, and theory makes her uncomfortable. She would much rather “go with the flow,” and trust in her ability to improvise in any situation she’s presented with. She learns best with “hands-on” experiences rather than by studying in a book. She tends to avoid a lot of theoretical thinking, or situations which are complex and ambiguous. She tends to have difficulty in school because of this. However, she does extremely well in situations where they’re allowed to learn by interacting with others, or in which she learns by doing. She succeeds in Potions and Transfiguration and does poorly in History of Magic and Airthmancy.

She has a very strong appreciation for aesthetic beauty and an excellent sense of space and function. She likes beautiful possessions and artfully furnished places, and she tries to decorate her small space in the dorms as artfully as she can. She adores the finer things in life such as good food and good wine or other alcohol. She has an appreciation for the beauty of nature as well. She’s a great team player, and doesn’t like to create any problems or fuss. She creates the most fun environment possible to get the job done.

Mel has a tremendous love for life and she knows how ot have fun. She likes to bring other people along on her fun-rides and is typically a lot of fun to be around. She’s energetic and upbeat and incredibly kind-hearted. She’s flexible, adaptable, and genuinely interested in people. She has a special ability to get a lot of fun out of life, but she needs to watch out for the pitfalls associated with living entirely in the moment. She’s a bit childish and lacks the maturity level to want to deal with long-term things, which can often lead to her being stuck in situations that can have long-term backlash that she refuses to think about.

( HAIR ) : Mel has long black hair that she usually wears mostly to one side of her hair. Sometimes she’ll leave it down, wear it in a French braid, or a ponytail. No matter what way she wears it, though, it always ends up looking like a mess. A styled mess, but a mess nonetheless.

( EYES ) : She has brown eyes that are almond shaped and tell pretty much everything she’s thinking. When she laughs and truly smiles it goes all the way up to her eyes.

( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : She has an oval face, a pointed chin and a nose that sticks out every so slightly. She has incredibly white teeth.

( BODY STRUCTURE ) : Mel is five foot five and weighs 110 pounds. She’s what some people would call stick-thin. She lacks practically all curves and muscle. She's also covered in tattoos.

( ATTIRE ) : She can usually be found in oversized shirts and shorts or oversized tanktops.

( PARENTS ) : Leann Shizer, 36, muggle lawyer.

( OTHERS ) : Her grandmother, Nanny Moira, 73, muggle.
( HISTORY ) : Demelza grew up in Denham Australia with her muggle mother and her wizard father. When his father and mother first got involved Arthur left his wizarding past completely behind him. He moved from England to Australia where he met Mel’s mother and they fell madly in love. He never kept his past from her. He got permission from the right people in order to be able to share his past with his wife. She knew what he was, and when Demelza was born they knew what she might be. Until she was eleven Demelza and her family lived in Australia with her Nanny Moira. When Demelza got her Hogwarts letter her family moved relocated back to England so it would be easier to get her to Hogwarts. Arthur didn’t want Demelza going to any other wizarding school but the one he attended, and when her parents brought her to get her supplies was the first time Mel’s mother was able to experience anything about the wizarding world.

When Demelza began attending Hogwarts she practically bragged about her half-blood status. In her opinion she got the best of both worlds. She was able to do magic, but she got to enjoy all the amazing privileges of being a muggle, too. She got to enjoy things like cell phones and Chinese food. But, quickly enough she learned that not everyone was as proud of their blood status, and not everyone considered her an equal. When she was younger she allowed other people’s judgments to hurt her feelings, but as she grew allowed her hurt feelings to simply turn to dislike for those kinds of people. She accepted everyone as they were, and the fact that everyone wasn’t able to do the same just made her angry. She tries not to surround herself with those kinds of people, but if she does find herself in their company, she’ll still treat them just like everyone else.

In her the summer before her fourth year her and her family were in a terrible car accident in London. She broke her arm, three ribs, and one of her legs. Her mother broke one of her arms, and her father was unharmed. The injuries were taken care of the muggle way, which frustrated Mel slightly. The wizarding way would have been much faster, and much less painful. Well, okay, maybe not much less painful, but definitely much faster. Walking on crutches for eight weeks was far less than ideal, but she made it through and her injuries healed before her fourth year began. The memory of the accident still haunts her, and while she enjoys driving she’s increasingly careful and paranoid that she’ll get into another accident that bad. She was just thankful that her family survived.

Her family stayed neutral during the war, refusing to take a side. Being a half-blood her parents had raised her to be the person she was and they too believed that everyone deserved to be treated equally. She was there during the dark times, when the death eaters ruled the school and that was a hard time for her to get through. She was treated differently, like she was worth nothing, but she didn’t let it get her down, she just turned her sadness into dislike. She would inwardly dislike them, but refuse to treat them differently. Her family, including her Nanny Moira, currently reside in muggle London.
