This one would definitely be hard to explain to the 'rents.
AJ had picked up a nasty habit of "bouldering" on school property, which usually just mean she'd scale the sides of the castle and...Get away from everyone. She'd spent the whole afternoon climbing the Ravenclaw tower and got about halfway up before her palms began to sweat and she lost her grip. She went hurtling towards the ground and muttered an incantation just before she hit to cushion herself, but she still managed to break her ankle and twist her wrist. She wasn't even in school robes at that point, just in a pair of shorts and a light sweater. Madame Pomfrey was in the middle of trying to contact her family, letting them know how reckless their daughter was. She merely sat on the edge of the bed, examining the wrap that was put over her foot. They'd used a great deal of magic to make it easier for her to walk, but it still hurt like nothing else she'd experienced. With a frown, she realized she'd get a crap ton of detention just for even climbing twenty feet off the ground. She had been up about four hundred feet, cruising along at a nice speed and using the stones that built the castle as strongholds to carry her to the very top. When it came to her friends, she'd merely say that she'd decided that she wanted to test her limits and climb. After all, she was an impulsive thinker and no one would think twice about her doing something crazy. She had gotten a decent amount of respect from her fellow Slytherin comrades for being so spontaneous and managing to pull it off. The day would definitely prove to be an interesting one, especially since her family would probably rail her for doing something insane...Again. Crossing her arms, she wasn't about ready to show up to Transfiguration all bandaged up. So she'd sit there and milk this as best as she could. After all, she could whine and complain about "foreign pains" really well. However, AJ just hoped that someone interesting would come by and she wouldn't have to sit here all day, twiddling her thumbs and waiting for the rest of the Greengrass family to shaft her for being the odd one out.

Will was awkward.
It was something he had come to accept about himself. He was an awkward kind of guy. His movements were awkward, he sounded awkward when he spoke about 90% of the time, and he was socially awkward. But what Will hadn't expected was for his awkwardness to become a health and safety hazard. Now that was a new level of awkwardness, even for him.
He had been trying to get to class, and was running late. He was in a bit of a rush, but didn't want to be rude or inconvenience anyone. So he'd been apologising every step of the way as he tried to move through the crowds of students flooding the halls, trying to get out of people's way as they walked in the opposite direction. And when he had accidentally bumped into a 5th year girl he had spun around at light speed to say something along the lines of "Oh, god, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I mean, I'm sorry..." when he had stepped backwards and fallen down three stone steps leading to another corridor.
Will wasn't really hurt, but he had twisted his ankle, and it looked swollen, so he thought a trip to the Hospital Wing was best. He had hobbled there by himself, not wanting to cause any trouble to anyone. Now he was standing by the wall, somewhat blending into the background, trying to get Madam Pomfrey's attention every time she bustled past. "Excuse me?" he said, half heartedly, as she scurried past him again "I was just wondering, ok, no you're, you're um, busy, I'll just, yeah, I'll wait...." his voice trailed off as she disappeared to the other end of the Hospital Wing.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." he said to himself, running a hand through his hair and looking at the ground, smiling slightly to himself. He was standing near a Slytherin girl with dark hair, and wasn't sure whether to say something or not. He shifted awkwardly, forgetting that his foot was hurt, and winced as he put weight on it, quickly shifting back and almost falling over.

When someone else walked in, she glanced up to see who it was. A male Ravenclaw student who had injured his ankle came in as best as he could and tried to get Madame Pomfrey's attention as she scurried about, trying to get a hold of the Greengrass family. The boy's attempts to get the woman's attention were feeble at best, and AJ allowed her blue eyes to graze over him once, twice, and then she examined her own injuries before thinking of something...Anything to start a conversation. See, she wasn't too mean for a Slytherin. She'd never directly insult someone unless they were asking for it. Her integrity didn't allow her to be mean unless she was given an opportunity, and boy she could rip someone a new one if they so asked for it. She'd gained respect because of how she conducted herself among fellow Slytherins. Now, she thought of how to start a conversation without it being strange. She definitely wasn't one to go seeking the attention of those outside of Slytherin but she did have a collection of friends in Ravenclaw as it was. She also talked to a few Gryffindors, but she tended to avoid the Hufflepuffs. ”You've got a voice,” She offered in her best friendly way. ”Use it. Don't be afraid of being too loud. Just tell her what you need, otherwise you might be standing here for a bit.” Granted, AJ felt partially responsible for the healer's rushing around, since her parents would be livid for her climbing the side of the building...Again. She'd be grounded for a hot minute there but it didn't mean she wouldn't break the rules set anyway. It wasn't like her parents had any say over what she did to begin with. She was sixteen and almost an independent woman. Her sister was independent, but she had decided to finish her last year of schooling. Just for fun. Then again, the entire Slytherin common room was like an episode of a reality TV show. They enjoyed their lives dramatic, being able to stab each other in the back so stealthily that their conquest would be silently applauded by the rest of the house. Her whole body tensed in anticipation, because she remembered what happened the last time someone tried to mess with her. She beat the living daylights out of the kid, who went home crying to her mother about how AJ was a bully. Well, she'd asked for it and the girl sitting on the hospital bed wasn't afraid to give it. ”So...What did you do to yourself that got you here? AJ asked quietly, realizing she'd never talked to him before.

Will's head snapped up as the Slytherin girl started talking to him, and he was intensely grateful that she had taken the initiative and started the conversation. Will had no idea what to say to just start chatting to a random stranger. Usually he avoided it. But standing almost right next to someone and neither of them saying anything made him uncomfortable, too.
"Oh, no..." he said, when the girl told him not to be afraid to be loud "I don't want to be a pain. I'm fine, really, well, I mean, I should probably see someone before I go wandering off," he laughed nervously, "but its fine, really it doesn't even hurt that- ahh!- bad..." he had tried to stand on his injured foot to show he was fine, but his foot had other plans. Painful plans.
He ran his hand through his messy hair yet again, and looked around the Hospital Wing as a way of looking somewhat occupied. He looked back at the girl as she asked him another question. "Oh, me? I fell, well, stumbled, down a couple of stairs. Its my fault, really, was in the way," he grinned sheepishly. "Um, what about you? Unless you don't want to tell me!" He added, hastily.
"Oh, I'm William, by the way, William Byrne, erm, Will, just call me Will, not William, that's ridiculous..." he was rambling, like he often did when he spoke to strangers. It took Will a while to get comfortable with somebody, and he was never good at talking to people he didn't know. When he realised he was rambling he stopped abruptly, and smiled instead.

She couldn't help but grin as he struggled, thinking it interesting how he tried to play it off at first. Most guys tried to be tough, no matter how kitten-like their personalities could be. She laughed, more out of pity than making fun of him. ”I'd suggest seeing someone about that,” She replied, gesturing over to one of the hospital beds. ”Just sit down and relax for a bit. My mother's probably going crazy at this exact moment, complaining about how her precious daughter got hurtsied while at school. Then she's gonna come here and get a hold of me, and then yell at me for being so foolish.” Yes, even the big bad Slythies would get yelled at by their mommies. However, AJ didn't really care about being yelled at. Her parents were certainly annoying at times. She then shrugged and eased herself up to a sitting position. Hitting the ground after falling x amount of stories from the top of the towers wasn't fun. When he told her about his escapade, she shrugged. ”I don't like the stairs myself. I suppose that's why I enjoy living in the dungeons, even though they do smell like mildew 90% percent of the year,” AJ commented, mostly to herself. She then shrugged and examined her host of injuries that were still trying to heal, and then allowed her gaze to fall upon Will again. She then laughed. ”I was climbing the side of the castle for fun, got up way too high, lost my grip and plummeted. Before I hit the ground I was able to murmur and incantation to slow me down but I broke a few bones and got banged up...” She then crossed her arms. It was strange to think of a Slytherin as active or wanting to do crazy things. Most of them were too concerned about breaking their nails or something of the sorts. She really didn't care when she was just looking to have fun and in the moment climbing to the top of the towers sounded like a great idea. In all reality it wasn't, but she'd do it anyway, because she thought it was great. He certainly was a strange guy, but he was funny. He was really funny because he was shy and awkward and that just made AJ laugh even more. ”I'm Astoria Greengrass, but everyone just calls me AJ. It's easier that way, I suppose. Besides, Astoria's just an awful name in my opinion,” She said, with a shrug. ”Nice to meet you.” She thought to herself for a moment and realized she was in higher classes that most her year. She looked back up and realized something. ”Don't we have Transfiguration together?” She asked him realizing that she probably does have a class somewhere with him. That's how she made friends with some of the Ravenclaws, since most of her classes were either with Ravenclaws or Gryffindors.

Will laughed to himself as Astoria- or AJ- suggested that he see someone about his foot. Well, yes, that was why he was here, he thought to himself. But he was grateful for her suggestion to sit down on the bed, and thought the smart thing to do would be to take it. So he hoisted himself up, and took the weight off his ankle, which felt pretty good.
He looked at her, listening quietly as she talked about her mum and how worried she'd be. He smiled when she mentioned not liking stairs, and the dungeons, and that mildewy smell that most Slytherins denied was even there. "Lots of stairs to get down to the dungeons," he pointed out, then decided to shut up. Most people didn't like when you corrected every little thing, but it was the Ravenclaw in Will that did it. That, and the part of him that sometimes liked to blurt things out without thinking.
"Astoria's a pretty name," he said, blurting again. Will liked unusual names. His name was boring, not to mention an auxiliary verb. Most people didn't realise how often they used the word 'will' in day to day conversation. But Will did. "Yeah, its, um, nice to meet you too," Will said, with a grin, then he looked down, shifting slightly.
He looked back up again when Astoria asked if they had transfiguration together. He hadn't thought that she was in his year, and was confused. He didn't want to be rude and not remember her, if he should have. "Erm, well, I'm not sure," he said, looking back down, his hand automatically going to his hair again "I mean, I don't really pay much attention... I forget who's in the class, sometimes. Its just me, I'm useless." he gave a self-deprecating smile, anxious not to make Astoria feel forgotten. It was true that Will kept his head down mostly in classes, and was often oblivious to people around him, especially people who didn't speak to him.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't bring herself to get mad at him. He was too awkward and hilarious for her to even point a finger at him and even make the slightest of sarcastic remarks. It just wasn't in her nature to pick at people who didn't deserve it. Then again, she had to keep a tough face. So she looked over at him with the most serious face she could muster. Her blue eyes glazed over, as if she had some deeper thought going on in her head. "You don't want to know what happens to the dungeon stairs, Will," She replied plainly, narrowing her eyes somewhat to add emphasis. However, she couldn't keep her poker face for long. She had a semi-decent one if she tried, but she ended up cracking a wry grin and falling back against the bed, allowing herself to laugh for some time. Well, things did happen to the stairs. Mainly everyone would jump an entire flight of stairs at once. Especially wearing robes, it looked pretty cool to jump the stairs in all seriousness. Once Madame Pomfrey came out again to tell AJ that her mother would be arriving at the school, the petite girl merely rolled her eyes. "Tell her that I'll refuse to talk if she decides to show up here," She muttered dismissively. After all, having your mother embarrass you by showing up at school to lecture about your habits definitely wasn't cool. Especially when it wasn't anything big. The girl crossed her arms and looked back at Will, a dejected look on her face. "I swear that lady's blind and ignorant..." She whispered, in reference to Madame Pomfrey. If AJ was talking about her mother, it would have probably gotten more explosive. But, she wasn't, and everything was just golden. "In all honesty I don't like my name, but I'm glad someone likes it," The girl stated, crossing her arms. Now she was getting frustrated knowing that "Queen Beezie" was showing up. So she kept silent for a bit. AJ just hoped she didn't get kicked out before she could break several rules she'd wanted to while at school. Then again, if her family started something, she'd move in with Eli. She then shrugged. "Unfortunately I pay too much attention to everything. Apparently they said it was an 'obsessive compulsive behavior' but I disagree. I might notice things but sometimes I just don't care enough about noticing them. I'm pretty sure you were the one who nearly set the curtains on fire..." AJ smiled, hoping not to catch him in a sore spot. "I've done worse, though. Seeing as I've got to live up to my Slytherin reputation and all." She waggled her eyebrows and eased herself to sit up, wincing as pain shot through her body. "I was the one responsible for flooding the Entrance Hall right before the war really picked up. They were completely convinced it was Death Eaters, too, so when they found out it was just...Slytherin kids, they freaked out. I got detention for months it felt like...." Then again detention wasn't awful. She just chatted it up with Slughorn and told him about all the different things she did for fun. He actually thought it was hilarious that she'd done as it was. At least someone understood.
