"I thought a lot about people who'd been through terrible things like wars, and having to come home and rebuild, establish normality after seeing horrors. Its always seemed to me to be such a courageous thing to do, and climbing back to normality after trauma is much much harder, its much harder to rebuild than to destroy. In some ways it would have been a neat ending to kill him, a neater ending, but I felt it would have been a betrayal because I wanted my hero, and he's my hero, to do what I think is the most nobel thing, he came back from war and he tried to build a better world." - J.K. Rowling
2nd of May, 1998. The Wizarding World faced its biggest battle yet. Hogwarts school was torn apart, lives were lost, but through it all good prevailed, and Lord Voldemort, the man who had once been Tom Riddle, was defeated. And so now the real battle begins; rebuilding a world destroyed by evil.
It is now September, 1998. Over the past four months Hogwarts as been rebuilt, and is now better and brighter than ever. Minerva McGonagall is now Headmistress, and students are returning to the school. Because of the turmoil of the last year no exams were taken, no qualifications given, and so those who should have left Hogwarts forever are returning to begin their 7th year over, those who should have been progressing on into 7th year are restarting their 6th, and so on, right down to the first years, some of whom are entirely new students, the older ones starting this year, and the younger ones starting next year, to avoid over crowded year groups. All in all, our new Headmistress has a lot on her plate.
The trio have returned to Hogwarts as heroes, looking for peace and a sense of normalcy (and particularly, in someones case, qualifications). After everything, Hogwarts is still their home.
Kingsley Shacklebot has been appointed the new Minister for Magic. The Ministry is still trying to find its feet, and the Auror department is keeping busy rounding up Death Eaters, many of whom refuse to come quietly, and some of whom are determined not to give up on their cause. All they need is a new center to rally around, and they could become very dangerous very quickly.
So join in as we explore what happened after the war!
