Vivian walked through the entrance hall with Ministry Wizards one and two, completely ignoring the stares of her fellow students. Professor McGonagoll was there, looking grim faced but not stepping forward or asking what was going on. Obviously she already knew, which made perfect sense; even the Ministry couldn't show up Hogwarts unannounced to arrest a student. But she looked surprised to see Vivian Blackwell. She had clearly been expecting Theodore Nott.
Vivian had taken the fall for Theo, something completely out of character. It only made sense when it was Theo that was involved. Theo was the only person Vivian would put herself out for.
They passed the entrance to the Great Hall, and Vivian remembered the first time she had met Theodore Nott, seven years ago... Vivian Blackwell walked through the doors of the Great Hall, and didn't exclaim with wonder as she saw the magical ceiling. It was enchanted to look like the sky outside, and right now it was scattered with billions of stars. She was interested, but not as excited as her fellow soon-to-be classmates. She wasn't excited at all, or nervous, or scared. She wasn't anything. Just mildly interested.
Vivian had spent the journey travelling from Platform 9 3/4 alone. She had managed to find a carriage to have to herself, mainly because her fellow first years gave her a wide birth. At first some had tried talking to her, but they were so put off by her demeanour that they left almost immediately. Most of the girls had hated her instantly. Because Vivian was beautiful. Out of this world beautiful. Too beautiful for her own or anyone else's good.
She felt eyes on her as she entered the hall, but ignored them. She heard a whisper or two of 'Veela,' and was glad to see they had caught on so fast.
At eleven years old, Vivian was small for her age, with large green eyes, a mass of bright blonde hair, and perfect features. She moved delicately, and gracefully, with non of the awkwardness of her fellow pre-teens.
She stood in a line with the rest of them, waiting for her turn with the sorting hat, and took the time to look around at the house tables, to see what the future looked like. Right now there were four possible futures open to her, although Vivian thought one was more likely than the other. Her mother and father (and step-father, too) had been Slytherins. But Vivian wasn't like them. She wasn't like anyone.
Her eyes flitted over to the Slytherin table, and for a moment her eyes met those of who she assumed was a second year girl, with a pretty face and dark hair. She was glaring at Vivian with the kind of instant loathing Vivian got from those who prided themselves on their beauty. Vivian cast a shadow they didn't enjoy standing in.
"Blackwell, Vivian."
Her name was called, and she looked away from the girl with the dark hair, making her way onto the stage. The muttering started up again, this time more excitedly; who would get the Veela?
The hat was placed on her head, and Vivian waited. There was nothing for a long time, then she heard... "Well, well, well... how peculiar..."
She sat motionless for a minute, then two, then three... by this time the students were chattering excitedly. The word 'Hatstall,' buzzed around the room. A Hatstall occurred, on average, once every fifty years. It was a rare thing to see one. As Vivian passed the four minute mark, she knew she was about to become the Hatstall of this half century.
Vivian knew it wasn't because the hat was deciding between two houses (she heard snippets of conversation, wondering which two it was stuck between). It was because it had no idea where to put her at all. It could read very little in her emotionless mind to indicate where she should be. She didn't give it any help. She was interested to find out what it would say, in the end.
Five minutes passed, and a few students whooped and cheered. Vivian Blackwell, part Veela, hatstall, soon to be in...
"...Slytherin!" cried the hat, and Vivian didn't know if she was imagining it or not, but she thought she heard a hint of uncertainty in the hats tone.
Professor McGonagoll removed the hat from her head, and Vivian hopped down from the stool, heading towards the Slytherin table, who were cheering the loudest they had yet. She reached the table and sat down, not quite sure what to do. As interested as they had all been in her, now that she was here her fellow Slytherins didn't seem to know quite what do make of her...

Theodore Nott was in his second year, and the opening feast for the school year was already vastly unimpressive. He was excited to see new students, sure, but did they really have to make such a to-do about it? Theo thought the same thing last year, when they all waited nervously in line for the hat to be placed on their heads. Theo knew where he was going without a second-thought. He'd be in Slytherin just like his mother, his father, and his 'step-father'... or whatever that monster he now lived with was to him. Dead was one thing. Awful was another. He wasn't sure if you could put a relationship term on that. So he didn't try. He sat there and watched as the new students poured in. He was seated by Daphne Greengrass and Archer Grayson, the two people he'd found so far that he could stand. Well... okay that was a lie. Grayson he could stand. Greengrass he couldn't. Bloody twit, going on about royalty all the time.
Grayson had plans to join the Quidditch team that year, but Theo had decided to wait. He'd wanted to see a few more games before he finally decided on what position he wanted to play. Greengrass had the same idea, but the four of them were still pretty good friends anyway.
Then murmurs started all around them and Theo lifted a brow, wondering what all the mess was about, but all he had to do was follow the whispers. A blonde girl. And she was stunning, too. Some people were whispering that she was a veela, and Theo smirked. That meant she'd be beautiful forever. How fortunate for her. His eyes watched as other students were placed. Some in Gryffindor, some in Hufflepuff... but then it was the blonde girls turn. This he was interested in. Greengrass was glaring so hard Theo thought her eyes might've popped out and he snickered.
"What's the matter Princess? Afraid someone's going to take your precious crown away?" he rolled his eyes before letting out a laugh and shaking the mass of black curls out of his brown eyes. He watched and waited, and he was pretty sure he could fee the whole of the Great Hall holding its breath. What was the big deal? So the girl was pretty? Who cared? But even Theo knew whatever house got her would be as lucky as the day is long. So while he didn't hold his breath in anticipation, he still hoped she'd become a Slytherin like the rest of the people who deserved it.
Still they waited... and waited... and waited. What was the issue? Usually the hat picked things relatively quickly. And then the word hatstall came into the picture. Merlin this blonde veela chick had to be somethin' else. He watched as she sat there, and wondered what her deal was. His eyes flicked back and forth between Greengrass' death glare to the beautiful eleven-year-old that sat before them. And eventually when the hat called out Slytherin Theo knew exactly what he was going to do.
"Oi! New girl C'mere!" he shouted, shooting Daphne a cocky grin as he waved her over. Making Daphne Greengrass miserable was one of the Theodore Nott's very favorite pastimes, and he knew that this would get under her skin like no other thing he'd done so far, and he'd done some pretty rotten things to her royal highness so far.

"Oi! New girl C'mere!"
The first words Theodore Nott had spoken to her hadn't exactly been polite and eloquent. But then again, neither was Theo, so it was fitting.
Vivian had already been seated at the table with the other first years who had already been sorted into Slytherin (there weren't that many yet, since Vivian's name came early in the alphabet) when she heard someone shouting to her. She looked around to see a boy with dark, unruly curly hair, gesturing to her to come join him.
Well, it wasn't as though she had anything more interesting to be doing, or anyone more interesting to talk to. She wasn't nervous, like the rest of the first years. She was perfectly calm, cool and collected. She swung her legs back over the bench and stood up, walking a little way up the table to where a group of second years sat, eyes following her as she went. Vivian noticed the dark haired girl who had glared at her earlier, but she ignored her. Vivian encountered more of her type than she could count, so she wasn't of much interest to her. The dark haired boy, the only one who'd been bold enough so far to talk to her, interested her though.
Vivian could tell that when he stood up he would be tall, although he was still stringy, like most twelve year old boys. She studied him for a moment, before saying, "Yes?" Vivian's voice hadn't yet developed the slightly lower, sultry pitch that it would do in later years, but it still had the same tone, the tone Theo (though neither of them knew it yet) would grow to know very well; that tone that made her sound mildly bored.
Vivian wondered why he had called her 'new girl' when he so clearly knew her name. Everyone in the school knew her name now; 'Blackwell, Vivian'. She assumed it was his way of being cocky, or trying to dominate her. Show her how things were around here. He was someone, and she was 'new girl'.
At eleven, Vivian wasn't nearly as confident as she was at seventeen. She wasn't nervous, or frightened, or insecure, but confidence was more than just a lack of those things. She didn't have any social experience, and she saw very clearly that she was different to the other students.
She didn't yet know just how different she was. Vivian couldn't remember a time when she had felt things like a normal person. What she felt now was all she knew, and she hadn't had any friends growing up. It had just been her in that big house, surrounded by adults when her parents still lived there most of the year, and on her own with staff when her mother had decided they would travel. She looked into the dark haired boys eyes and saw things there she didn't see in her own. She wondered if she would freak him out, and if he would tell her to go away, turn back to his friends and continue talking to them. And that would be that.
note ;; we probably shouldn't god-mod Daphne quite so much haha but I think we can leave her out of it from now and just assume she's pissed off :') Also, this is all SO cute when you consider the thread we just had where Vivian took a fall for Theo! XD

Theo waited for the blonde girl and was more than pleased when she decided to to join them. He smirked as she seemed to saunter over effortlessly in a way that most eleven-year-old girls would kill for. When she arrived she said very little and as Theo's eyes met hers he was surprised. Her eyes seemed cold and distant, but he paid it no mind as he grinned up at her.
"sit, chat awhile," he said with a grin, patting the empty space next to him. The girl interested him, but he wasn't sure why. A lot of the other students didn't seem to like her very much and Theo didn't quite understand why. Her eyes were a little lacking as far as showing off any kind of emotion, but Theo didn't understand why that should discount her any.
"Im Theo. Theo Nott. Welcome to Slytherin house," he said extending a hand for her to shake.
ooc; sorry it's so short. I may or may not currently be intoxicated

Vivian saw a look of surprise in the boys eyes as he looked into hers, and wondered if he had read how emotionless she was, or if he was just surprised that she had come over and joined them. Or maybe he was just surprised to see her up close. Either way, she watched him carefully; being surprised was hard to fake.
But he didn't send her away, and he hadn't just wanted to see the Veela up close for a moment. He patted the empty seat next to him, and Vivian sat down. The sorting was over now, and all of Vivian's new classmates had been chosen. Right now they were looking at her in disbelief as she sat with the older students. Somehow Vivian thought that she wouldn't be making any friends in her own year. The thought was somewhat less than upsetting.
"Im Theo. Theo Nott. Welcome to Slytherin house,"
Vivian took Theo Nott's hand as he extended it for her to shake, and replied, "I'm Vivian. Vivian Blackwell," smirking ever so slightly as she gently mocked the self important way in which he had introduced himself.
She had to admit it was... well, comforting, to know that she wasn't a total outcast at Hogwarts. At least one person had reached out to her. Vivian was glad, because she had had more than enough of hanging around on her own. It was so boring, and Vivian was ready to not be so bored.
"So, Theo Nott," she said, following on from her own train of thought, "what's fun around here?"
note ;; lol no worries, you did well XD

Ah, so the new girl's name was Vivian. Maybe if he'd been paying more attention to the sorting he probably would have known that, but Theo rarely paid attention to things he didn't care about, and, with the exception of Vivian Blackwell, the sorting ceremony was absolutely something Theo didn't care about. I mean sure, it was nice to have more members to your house, but overall? Theo couldn't give a damn about where the first years ended up, so long as they weren't in his way. But even on the first day, and even at the young age of twelve he knew that Vivian Blackwell was something to be coveted by not only the rest of the houses, but by the rest of the boys in the house. She was beautiful, and there wasn't a soul in all of the great hall that could deny that. Not that Theo was so interested in her for her looks, he really just wanted to get under Daphne's skin. But this new girl seemed interesting. She wasn't prissy or whiny like the other girls of Slytherin house. Well, that was a lie, she could be completely whiny, but she hadn't done so yet which was very much unlike the rest of the first years in Slytherin house. Especially when it came to him.
There had been a bit of mockery in her tone when she introduced herself and Theo narrowed his eyes at her before letting out a laugh. This girl was really different, wasn't she? Did she have any idea who she was talking to? How many girls, at least in the second year, would kill to be in her position? Okay, perhaps kill was a strong word, but envy was definitely there, that much he knew. He was tall and relatively lanky, but he was already one of the most handsome boys in Slytherin even at the age of twelve.
Vivian seated herself exactly where he'd pat next to him and as the food began to appear in front of them Vivian asked what was fun around here? The same cocky grin he'd worn earlier returned to his face as he turned to face her.
"You're lookin' at it," he said with a grin before gesturing to himself. But soon enough he was laughing and shaking his head slightly.
"Aside from me though there's loads of stuff. There's the black lake, quidditch pitch, potions classrooms are always fun to hang around. The older kids in the house like to throw parties, too. It all depends on what you're in the mood for," he said before he began piling food onto his plate. "So what do you consider fun, Vivian?"

Vivian let out a slight, and very rare, laugh as Theo said that he was what was fun around here. Vivian rarely laughed at all, and rarely found anything amusing, so although he didn't know it, making Vivian laugh really was something of a remarkable feat, especially considering they had only just met. It made Vivian think that maybe there was some truth in Theo's words. Maybe Theodore Nott could be fun.
Vivian wrinkled her nose as Theo read out a laundry list of things that were supposedly fun. She wasn't a fan of Quidditch, and what would be fun about a lake? Potions (or any lesson, for that matter) didn't appeal to her, and she'd never been to a party before, so she didn't know what that would be like... but as she glanced at her fellow first years, most of them still too scared to start eating, she didn't think parties for her year were very likely, anyway.
She looked at the mountain of food that had appeared in front of them, unimpressed, and put some food on her plate, starting to eat absent-mindedly, her focus back on Theo.
"So what do you consider fun, Vivian?"
Vivian shrugged. "I dunno. I suppose I'll just try everything until I find something good. But not lessons, though. Or Quidditch. Or a lake," she wrinkled her nose again. She glanced up at the enchanted ceiling again, more to gauge the weather than anything, and had an idea. "Maybe I'll go up on the roof." Vivian used to do that at her house. It had been big, and there had been plenty of roof to explore, and the feeling of being so high up had excited her (well, as excited as Vivian could get). It had also been an excellent escape from her mum and step-dad, and, later, pesky tutors. But her roof would be nothing compared to the Hogwarts roofs. She had seen plenty of tall towers when she had taken the traditional boat ride across the lake, and so she was sure she would find a way onto it. Or, failing that, she could find a broom somewhere. Vivian knew how to fly, she had learned years ago.

Vivian let out a laugh after he said he what was fun around here and for a moment he felt briefly taken aback. Was she... was she laughing at him? No, that couldn't be the case. Still, his eyes remained slightly narrowed. He couldn't figure out her intentions, but he decided he wouldn't try too hard. He turned back to eating his food and listened as she almost immediately discounted every single one of his suggestions. He looked up at her with even more narrowed eyes, but this time they weren't angry or insecure, they were just bloody confused. It was understandable that the girl didn't like lessons, even though she'd never taken any, but mixing potions could be fun. Then again, Theo found very early that he had a knack for them, so of course he found that fun. But Quidditch? The lake?! How could you deny either of those? He rolled his eyes before turning back to his food.
"You've never even been to the lake so how would you know," he said before taking a few bites of his food. This girl didn't seem to like any of the same things as him. What a bummer. But then she mentioned something about going onto the roof? Theo let out a laugh as he tried not to choke on a bit of his chicken. He looked up at her and laughed few a few more seconds before smirking at her.
"Now that I'd have to see," he said with a laugh, and he meant it. This first year planned on getting onto the roof? What was she going to do? And then an idea struck him and he glanced back to her. "I'll make you a deal, Vivian. I'll go with you, but no brooms allowed. That's cheating," he said with a nod. And it would be, after all. What fun would trying to get on the roof be if you could just fly up? But going onto the roof was an idea that Theo himself had never thought of, but it seemed fun. The stars would probably be out. He looked at the ceiling to gauge what it looked like outside, and he grinned. He liked what he saw.
He turned back to his food and took a few more bites before looking back toward Vivian. "So what do you say? Up for a little adventure?"

"You've never even been to the lake so how would you know,"
Vivian rolled her eyes. "I've been to a lake," she said "is this one really so different?" Theo really seemed to be far too excited for this lake, so Vivian started to wonder if maybe it was different. Maybe this lake did something special. Otherwise, well, you were just sitting by a lake. Vivian had already sailed across the lake, and hadn't been that impressed, if she was honest.
Theo seemed to choke on his food when Vivian mentioned going on the roof, and she frowned, patting him on the back tentatively, as though he had something she didn't want to catch. Then she realised that he was laughing, not choking, and stopped patting him on the back, relieved. Physical contact wasn't really her thing. Not since... well, not since a long time ago.
He seemed interested in the idea, and Vivian listened as he outlined the rules for his 'deal'. "Fine," she said, when he said no brooms allowed. Vivian wasn't one to back down from a challenge, not that she thought this would be much of one. Castles like this had multi-layered roofs, some flat some sloping, some higher than others, some lower. Some even started right by a window. Vivian didn't think they would have any trouble finding a place to get onto the roof. Although, she was new here, and the school was huge. She might need Theo's help to find a suitable tower, one with windows that opened.
Now that the idea had been planted Vivian was itching to go, right now. But she was sure that Theo would want to wait, maybe leave it till tomorrow. People were always doing that, wanting to wait, put it off, like they needed time to think over what they already knew. But Theo surprised her, looking up at the ceiling in a way that clearly said he was checking what kind of weather they'd be in for if they went up on the roof... right now. Vivian smiled.
"...Up for a little adventure?"
"Always," Vivian replied with a wicked grin. She glanced quickly up at the staff table, before grabbing Theo's arm and pulling him off the bench.
She thought it was best they go now, while everyone was at the feast. Much less chance of getting caught, and getting into trouble. Vivian didn't mind trouble, but she did mind detention. Her tutor had made her do detentions of a sort, whenever she was bold (which was very often) and she couldn't stand the boredom. She ducked down, pulling on Theo's arm so he'd follow suit, and headed towards the door. A few Slytherins looked at them curiously, but no one tried to stop them, and when they made it to the doors into the entrance hall Vivian knew they had managed it unseen.

Theo narrowed his own eyes as Vivian rolled hers, asking if this lake was any different from the lake she'd been in. Of course it was different! This wasn't some muggle town or something! He sighed before rolling his own eyes.
"Of course it's different. There's a giant squid," he said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. And for him it was. Of course the lake was different. If it was just a boring, stagnant body of water would it really be that fun? Sure, there was always swimming, but if that were possible in the lake you'd not even be able to move because of the amount of students that would probably be in it. Still, did Vivian even realize where she was? Of course the lake was different. Nothing was really normal here. It was magic school for Merlin's sake! Still, he let it go without another comment as his thoughts turned back to food and the roof adventure that was in the making. Going on the roof had not once ever occurred to Theo, but when Vivian had agreed to his rules he was nothing less than delighted. He loved a good challenge and he knew even if the castle had flat parts of the roof it would still be a challenge. But that was the fun of it.
"Good," he said with another cocky grin before returning to his food. It was pretty good as far as feast food went, but even after only a year of going to Hogwarts he already knew what to expect. But sometimes the food at Hogwarts was more than he got from Nott Sr. at home, so he'd never complain about a good meal being in his stomach. And Hogwarts always put out good meals, even if they were a little bit predictable at times.
Theo hadn't expected their roof adventure to happen so soon, especially not that very night. But soon enough Vivian said she was always up for an adventure and he was being tugged from the table. His face contorted into one of confusion as he glanced back to Archer and Daphne and waved them a quick goodbye, the confused look never leaving his face. Who was this girl and where exactly did she think she was dragging him? He let out a small sigh as she tugged on his sleeve once more, signaling him to duck down. He wasn't stupid. His eyes narrowed at the back of the blonde girls head before he heaved another sigh and ducked down, making it safely to the entrance hall without so much as a second glance. The teachers and students and prefects were all too busy eating and chatting away about the upcoming school year, Theo was sure. But he was thankful that they were both thin because they didn't have to open the door that wide.
He tugged his sleeve away from her as they walked into the Entrance Hall, and he stopped walking, crossing his arms over his chest with a wicked grin.
"Alright little miss I'll lead the way. Go on, I'd like to see where we're going," he said before his grin fell into a devious smirk. He knew exactly where they could go to climb out onto the roof, despite having never thought of it before, but if this girl was so clever, and so impatient he was curious as to where she would look first. Where she would go. If she went the wrong way, naturally he'd tell her that, but for now he wondered what she'd do.

When they made it out of the Great Hall, Theo looked annoyed and pulled his arm away from her. Vivian rolled her eyes, although in a more discrete way than she would come to do in later years.
"Well if you didn't want to do it now, all you had to do was say," Vivian said, disregarding the fact that she had dragged him out of the hall without consulting him. "But now's the perfect time. Everyone's at the feast, so we won't get caught. And besides Mr. 'I'm what's fun around here', I didn't realise we had to wait for said fun to start."
Vivian seemed to realise what she had said a second after she said it, and was taken aback by her own boldness. Sure, she wasn't shy, and she wasn't insecure or nervous around people, but she wasn't usually confident either. She didn't have the nerves of being in a new school and around new people holding her back, but she was wary, wary of everyone around her, and that usually made her reserved. But with Theo she seemed to be 'coming out of her shell' at an alarming rate.
Theo made a oh-so witty remark about her leading the way, and Vivian wrinkled her nose at him, but started walking anyway, assuming Theo would follow. She headed for the stairs, because she didn't think the dungeons were exactly the place to start. If you wanted to go on the roof, the best way to go was up.
"Well fine, if you want to wander around for ages while I find my way," Vivian said as she walked up the stairs. "You do seem to be all about waiting for the fun to start." Then Vivian had an idea, and smiled slightly to herself, although Theo wouldn't see it. "Of course, maybe that's the point," she said, "maybe you just want to put it off?" She turned around so she was facing Theo, and looked down at him as she was a few steps ahead. "If you're scared, we can always go back to the feast..."

Theo rolled his eyes as Vivian said he wanted to wait for the fun to start. She thought was she was so terribly clever didn't she? He let out a sigh, and shrugged. As much as he didn't want to admit to her being right, she was. If they were going to go out on the roof, now would be the most opportune time. Everyone had been so busy eating they hadn't even noticed they'd left. How long would it even take them before they realized they were missing? He watched carefully as she began to make her way up the stairs and let out a low growl about the fact that he really did like to wait for the fun to start.
"We don't have to wait for anything. I'm just saying, I don't like being dragged around by some first-year who thinks she knows where she's going," he said before he began to follow her up the stairs. However, as she turned around and asked if he was scared he stopped short in his tracks and glanced up at her, his jaw hung open and his brows furrowed together. She did not just say he was scared. Really? Really?! Who was this girl!? And why was he still with her when he could still be eating? He narrowed his eyes before scoffing slightly.
"I'm not scared," he said before stomping up the stairs lightly, making sure to be ahead of her. "Come on, newbie," he said waving his hand for her to follow as he made a right down the corridor and found the exact window he was thinking of. He pushed it open gently before looking out and surveying the area. There was a wall directly next to it which they could climb, and it would only be two, maybe three feet at the most before they reached the first level of flat roof.
He turned backward toward Vivian, a smug grin on his face. "Adventure awaits," he said with a grin and without a second thought he jumped gently out of the window and landed against the bricks. His hands gripped the rocks for dear life as he found his footing and began the ascent. Once his feet were in place it was relatively easy to scale the wall, and when he reached the first part of slated roof he looked down to the window he'd jut jumped out of, satisfied with the results.
"C'mon up!" he shouted, and a grin broke out across his face as he heard it echo against the walls outside.

Vivian smirked slightly to herself as Theo took the bait. It really was far too easy. He rushed ahead of her and started to lead the way, and all she had to do was follow. This 'deal' was really working out quite well.
Theo obviously knew where he was going, so he must have had a window already in mind, and when they reached it Vivian knew that it would be perfect. Theo pushed it open, and climbed out. Vivian watched from the window sill, and waited until Theo had made it safely onto the first flat bit of roof before hoisting herself up onto it, and stepping out (she wasn't stupid, she wasn't going to throw herself out a window unless she knew it was relatively safe.)
Theo was taller than Vivian, so he had an easier time of manoeuvring the wall than she did. But she copied his movements, following the path that he took to get to the first flat part of the roof, refusing to ask for help.
Finally, after a little bit of struggle (it really was more difficult when your arms didn't have as long of a reach as Theo's) Vivian made it up to the first flat bit of roof.
She smiled as she straightened up, looking around. The view was pretty good, but Vivian knew it could get better. "Don't get too pleased with yourself yet," she said, "I think we can do better than this. Do you want to continue leading the way, Mr. 'Fun'?" Vivian thought that she could find a way from here. She could see most of the roof, and it was obvious which ways were the best for climbing. Neither of them seemed to have thought about how much more difficult it would be to get back through the window.

Theo watched in anticipation as Vivian climbed out of the window and made it up to where he now stood. Granted, it took her a bit more effort than it took him. He had longer arms and was generally a bit taller than Vivian, so he’d had a much easier time of it. He smirked as he watched her climb, and yet at the same time there was a part of him that was worried. If she fell, Merlin knew she’d get hurt and then he’d have to go find someone to help her and they’d get in all kinds of trouble. That was the last thing he needed or wanted, and so he felt relief wash over him as Vivian finally made it to where he stood. Only when she began looking around at the view did he allow himself to take it all in. It really was pretty awesome.
She must have seen the grin on his face because the next thing he knew she was telling him not to get too pleased with himself. Well it was really too late for that now, wasn’t it? Still, his eyes looked away from the view and turned back toward Vivian as she asked if he wanted to lead. He shrugged lightly as he surveyed the roof. There were plenty of places to climb to get higher, which is obviously what Vivian wanted. He smirked slightly.
”You should lead. Wouldn’t want you falling. And let’s be honest, if I were in the lead and I fell we’d both be dead,” he said with a laugh before making his way to a certain part of the roof and standing, waiting for her to choose the direction. He knew she at least knew enough to know where to climb, but as for what gave them the best view… well not even Theo knew that.

Theo looked relieved as Vivian made it up to where he was standing, and Vivian couldn't help but laugh (again? Must be some kind of record). The thought of him worrying about her plunging to her death was amusing. She wondered what had gone through his head as he saw that it was a bit more of a struggle for her than it had been for him.
He said that she should take the lead, and that he 'wouldn't want her falling', confirming what Vivian had thought. "So you think that if I went first, and I fell, you could catch me?"
She looked Theo up and down. He didn't look particularly strong, but then again she wasn't very heavy. She was small and slender, almost willow like. Theo would be able to pick her up, but catch her if she fell, stop himself from falling if she fell on top of him? She wasn't so sure.
Not that it mattered. She would have climbed up the roof without the insurance of Theodore Nott there to catch her. And she was happy to lead now. She glanced around looking for the best place to continue their climbing adventure, and saw a spot where two sloping roofs met. It was steep, but not impossible, and the fact that the roofs met at an angle made it perfect to climb up. She strode over to it and began to climb, again assuming that Theo would follow her without checking.
"Don't look up, Theo." She said, bossily. She was wearing a skirt, after all.
