Hey guys[/li][li] Each team posts alternatively, so for example if its a Gryffindor vs Slytherin match then a Gryffindor character posts, then a Slytherin, then a Gryffindor.
So, basically we're starting to get enough characters who are Quidditch players to start thinking about Quidditch matches.
There are different ways we could go about doing them, and I wanted the members to decide which ones they want.
Firstly, I'm going to make a Madam Hooch account, which both Quinn and I will have access to. Madam Hooch will be the ref for all Quidditch matches.
One of the ways we could do it (and my personal favourite) is to keep it simple:
[/li][li] Posts are kept short. For example:
Ginny flew down the centre of the pitch, holding the Quaffle. She ducked to avoid the bludger Jameson had shot at her head, then straightened out again, her eyes focused on the goal posts. Making a split second decision, she went for the left hoop, and took the shot.
[/li][li] God-modding is allowed! This is the ONLY time God-modding will be permitted. This just makes it more fun! However, you have to use discretion. Excessive god-modding, abusing god-modding, or making your character perfect (never misses a goal, never misses a save, always dodges the bludger) will count as 'cheating', and Madam Hooch will give a penalty to the other team (which will be scored. Basically it gives 10 points to the other team).
[/li][li] Madam Hooch will keep score as the match goes on.
[/li][li] It is up to the Keepers whether they save or miss a shot, however as stated above, if your character saves everything the other team gets a penalty. Try to go off what the chaser is doing; if they say they fumbled the shot, you'll probably save it. If they feint left and shoot right, you'll probably miss.
[/li][li] At some point during the match, Madam Hooch will announce that the snitch has been sighted. Either myself or Quinn will have flipped a coin to decide which team's seeker catches the snitch. We will PM both seekers letting them know, and then they post.
It should really be about fun, and not taken too seriously. We don't want things to get too confusing. I've seen ways of doing it where a chaser taking a shot PMs the ref saying either left right or centre, and the keeper PMs saying the same, and if the keeper goes the right way the shot is saved, if not its a goal. This is a possible way to play it, but it will slow down matches considerably, especially if neither Quinn nor I is online at the time.
Until we get enough members to fully fill out our Quidditch teams, other players will have to say what the other positions are doing. For example:
Ginny passed to the other chaser, who dodged a bludger and passed back. Their beater shot another bludger at the keeper.
I think the fun of this type of Quidditch is that you can god-mod other people! You can hit them with bludgers, knock them off their brooms... anything you can think of.
If anyone has any other suggestions as to how they'd like to do matches, post a reply below once we have a general consensus on what we want to do, we can start our first Quidditch match! [/blockquote]
