________________________( FULL NAME ) : Talaith Elin Cardiff
( NICKNAMES ) : Tali. It's much easier to say than Talaith.
( SEX ) : Female
( BLOOD TYPE ) : Pureblood
( AGE & DOB ) : Seventeen. August 13.
( YEAR ) : Sixth year
( HOUSE ) : Ravenclaw
( AFFILIATION ) : Death Eater
( SEXUAL ORIENTATION ) : Heterosexual
( WAND ) : 8 inches
Fir Wood - Wands of called wands of this wood are ‘the survivor’s wand,’ because they were sold to three wizards who subsequently passed through mortal peril unscathed. There is no doubt that this wood, coming as it does from the most resilient of trees, produces wands that demand staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and that they are poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. Fir wands are particularly suited to Transfiguration, and favour owners of focused, strong-minded and, occasionally, intimidating demeanour.
Dragon Heartstring core -As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

( LIKES ) : Verbal arguments, intelligence, reading, being outdoors, being an animagus, dueling, sleep, purebloods, transfiguration[/blockquote]
( DISLIKES ) : small spaces, her parents, mudbloods and blood traitors and half-bloods, squibs,
( STRENGTHS ) : Transfiguration, Ancient Runes, self-confidence, independent, friendly
( WEAKNESSES ) : doesn't forgive people easily, flying, sarcastic, Charms, doesn’t particularly care one way or another what people think of her.
( AMORTENTIA) : Pine trees, crisp autumn air, clean linen
( RIDDIKULUS! ) : Enclosed spaces; after what her parents put her through with her sister she can’t stand to be anywhere in enclosed space. Sometimes the dark dank dungeons even frightened her a bit, when she was down there too long.
( EXPECTO PATRONUM! ) : Getting her Hogwarts letter. She’d lived in fear for two years that she would end up like her sister, and the day her letter came it was a relief unlike any she’s ever known.
( DEMENTOR'S KISS ) : Killing her sister.
( MIRROR OF ERISED ) : To have her sister be back by her side. To have her sister be magical.
( PERSONALITY ) : Tali is a strong-willed, confident, intelligent girl. She does whatever she needs to in order to survive. She doesn’t take any kind of nonsense from anyone and if you wrong her it’s very hard to gain back her trust. She will always be kind to you when she first meets you, unless she knows you’re of impure blood in any way. If that’s the case you’ll be lucky if you even get a look from her, and you should very much hope you don't cross her. She enjoys dueling and isn’t above throwing down the gloves if you insult her.
She can be very stubborn and if you cross her or bump heads with her you’ll likely get an earful. She enjoys talking to people and, occasionally, getting to know them. She likes having intelligent conversations as often as she likes to joke around, and she likes teaching others. On occasion Tali can come off as a bitch if she’s in a bad mood or just doesn’t want to try to talk to you, but she tries not to let that happen as often as it did in the past. She doesn’t trust many people and as such she doesn’t allow many people in. She doesn’t let people in on her past or her abilities unless she really feels she can trust them.
She loves to be outdoors and in wide, open spaces. She hates feeling trapped or cooped up. She tends to get a little stir crazy if she spends too much time inside. She also really hates being alone. She needs some kind of social interaction, even if it’s only being in the same room as someone and not speaking or she begins to get stir crazy. She is a pureblood elitist through and through despite being a Ravenclaw. She can get easily jealous of other people’s things, but never really says anything about it. It is mostly family that she’s jealous of. Other people who have siblings, magical siblings. She can sometimes be immediately resentful toward them, but it will be very temporary.
She’s quick to judge, rarely forgives, and never forgets. She will do what she has to to survive in this world no matter what. She generally doesn’t care what people think of her one way or another, which is one reason the sorting hat wanted to place her in Slytherin. It’s a chiefly Slytherin characteristic. She’s confident, yes, but she wasn’t cocky or vain. She will be sassy when she needs to, and if you don’t like her she won’t lose a wink of sleep over it. She’s independent and doesn’t worry about fitting anyone’s “mold." Shes not so bitter that it alienates people from wanting to be around her, but she knows there are probably a fair few people out there that dislike her.
She is an animagi, and her animagi form is a coyote.

( HAIR ) : Her hair is blonde and falls just below her collarbone. She sometimes wears it straight, sometimes scrunchy. It all really depends on the day.
( EYES ) : Tali’s eyes are deep and dark like an oncoming storm. They change from a deep blue to a light grey to a dark grey. They have a bit of a haunting, crazy look to them most of the time because of how wide and dark they are, but she loves them. She thinks they give away a part of herself that she doesn’t often show people. She can use them as a warning sign.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : Tali has a pointed chin and high cheek bones. Her nose is a bit long, but she doesn’t mind it. All in all she thinks she's very pretty, and wouldn’t change her features for anything.
( BODY STRUCTURE ) : Tali is about five foot eight and weighs 128 lbs. She’s not all muscle, but she packs a punch if she needs to. She wants her body to be as healthy and strong as it can be, so most of her body is muscle, but not all of it. She’ll still pig out every once in a while, but she learned very young to do what she had to to survive, and in order to do that your body needed to be its fittest.
( ATTIRE ) : She generally wears whatever’s comfortable. She loves wearing jeans and comfy shirts but also loves getting dressed up when the occasion calls for it. She doesn’t particularly care about brand names or anything like that. If it’s comfortable and looks good on her, that’s all that matters.
( PLAY-BY ) : Candice Accola

( PARENTS ) : Arvel Cardiff, 40, curse-breaker, former Slytherin, father[/blockquote]
Lowri Cardiff, 38, cure-breaker,former Slytherin mother
( SIBLINGS ) :Eira Cardiff, squib, deceased
( OTHERS ) : The housekeeper, Seren.
( HISTORY ) : Talaitha was born to her parents, Arvel and Lowri, in a small village of Treforest in Pontypridd, Wales. She was born two years after they had her older sister Eira. As curse-breakers Tali’s parents did a lot of traveling when she was younger. They weren’t around very much, so Seren, their housekeeper took care of them. Her parents message was everywhere, though. Muggles were dirt, bloodtraitors and half-bloods were worse, and squibs were worst of all. There were books and propaganda everywhere, and Seren used to tell Eira and Tali stories of how horrible the muggles were. Eventually, when Tali was about five her parents decided to retire from curse-breaking, at least for the time being, and that’s when the messages became truly bad. Her parents were telling her constantly how bad all of the aforementioned things were, and she and Eira always nodded along. They were fierce in their anit-muggle beliefs and they made that abundantly clear. Years went by with their parents giving weekly lectures about the goings on of the muggle world and how horrid it was. Her father, though he wasn’t branded with the dark mark supported the Dark Lord’s cause completely. Her parents were excited for Eira to get her Hogwarts letter, to see where she would be housed. They had no doubt it would be Slytherin.
But life seemed to have other plans. And death had the final say.
On Eira’s eleventh birthday there was no owl. No owl came to the door, or the window. Her parents waited awake in the kitchen all night, hoping there’d been some kind of mistake. Tali and Eira were in their shared bedroom, waiting. Eira had managed to fall asleep, but Tali had not. The nine-year-old was too worried to sleep. Not getting a Hogwarts owl wasn’t good. She should have gotten one. Why didn’t she get one? She stayed awake all night, too, and when she awoke it was like she awoke to another dimension, for her parents had lost their sanity completely and gone crazy with grief. Sun was barely shining into the room when their door burst open.
Tali's eyes snapped open. She hadn’t been sleeping, but she was faking it. And still her heart was gripped with fear. Her parents were screaming obscenities. Her father grabbed Eira by the hair.
"Where is your letter?!” he screamed, but by that morning the whole family knew the answer, and the pure fear that was held in Eira’s eyes was something that Tali thought she’d never forget. But it was forgotten, for what happened next was far worse than anything the nine-year-old could have imagined. Her mother scooped her up into her arms and apologized over and over and over.
”What's going on, mum?” she asked, unable to hold the sob from her voice as tears began to flow. She was scared as her mother carried her with a grip that was far too tight to be loving. Her father was gripping Eira who was yelling and thrashing about. They were taken to the basement and her parents left them down there with the door locked. It felt like hours, but it could have been only minutes before they returned, a large kitchen knife in hand.
”Talaith it is time you learned what true power feels like. You must,” her father cooed to her, thrusting the knife in her hand. At first she was confused. Her mother was nowhere in sight. It was only Arvel. What was going on? Why did she need a knife? But the scream that emitted from Eira made everything clear.
”No papa. I can’t! No!” Tali screamed, already beginning to cry. Her father stroked her hair gently.
”You must, or you will die here, same as that filth,” he said, his voice turning suddenly cold and distant. And without another word he was gone. Eira and Tali both ran for the door, but by the time the pair of them reached it it was already locked. They tried to break down the door, but it was useless. And so the pair of them returned to the basement. Eira stayed far away from Talaith, and Talaith threw the knife far away from her. She would not do this thing.
But somewhere in the back of her head her father’s threat remained, and so did her parents teaching. The word squib repeated over and over in her head as she fell asleep that night, hungry and cold. She awoke the next morning and Eira was already awake. She said she didn’t sleep, and Tali cursed herself for being so stupid. She was thankful Eira was not smart. But even if Eira had gotten the knife, she knew her parents would kill her. And they would not hesitate the way Tali was. She stared at Eira, her stomach rumbled. She looked longingly up at the door. Hours went by, another entire day past, but on the second night Tali did not allow herself to sleep. Her stomach hurt too much from hunger, and her thoughts were too caught up in how to succeed in this task her father had given her. He wouldn’t have told her to do this if it was wrong. It’s what they’d been taught their whole life, everything non-magical was to be decimated.
True power Tali thought, the power of life and death. The power to take life away. The thought brought a slight smile to her face, but it quickly fell. This was her sister, how could she do that to her? And still another day past, and by now the hunger was too much t bear. Eira and Tali had both begun vomiting their stomach conents, whatever there was, until there was nothing left. Tali stared at her sister with tears in her eyes. Eira was huddled in a corner, half asleep. She looked longingly up to the basement door again, and then her eyes found the knife. They widened as her brain clicked. The key to freedom, the key to food, the key to life. She was silent as she crawled toward the sharp object. She silently wished there was a faster way, but she was too young to know anything better.
Eira woke up, but had not the energy to move. Tali stared at her sister for a moment and the both of them began to cry. They knew what was coming.
”I’m sorry…” Tali said. You’re a mistake she thought as she plunged the knife into her sister. Her sister’s screams still haunt her to this day. It was not quick, and it was very painful, Tali was sure. But she’d tried to do it as quickly as she could.
Because Eira was a squib, no one really knew she went missing. She’d not gone to Hogwarts, and they didn’t have many friends in Pontypridd. So when Tali emerged from that basement she emerged a new person. Her heart was twisted and confused. Her parents wouldn’t want her to do something that was wrong. It was all they taught, how could it be wrong? But there was still a hole in her heart where her sister had been. And now… now there was fear that in two years, she would take Eira’s place, alone and bloody in the basement. The remembrance of that fear to this day still brings goosebumps to her skin.
Two years she lived in fear. Her parents had left her with Seren and returned to curse-breaking to nurse their wounded hearts and egos. Part of Tali, a very large part of her, hated her parents because she missed her sister. But they were not wrong, were they? She was a squib… She needed to be gone from this world, right?
Two years later on her eleventh birthday she woke up terrified for her life, and the moment she saw that owl land in the windowsill she felt like the entire world had been lifted from her shoulders. She would be away from her parents, she would get to live. She was not a mistake, she was powerful and selfless and brave.
She was sorted into Ravenclaw, and while her parents weren’t pleased about it, they knew she believed the same as them – pureblood was the best blood. When she started at Hogwarts her favorite subject quickly became transfiguration, and the moment they learned about what animagi were, Tali knew she wanted to become one. She pulled McGonagall aside one day after class and asked her if she could have some sort of private lesson. McGonagall seemed utterly pleased and the lessons began immediately.
Becoming an animagi was a long, and arduous process. It was physically and mentally demanding and she’d thought about giving up many times. But there was a part of her that wanted to be able to give up her human form, even if it was only for a little while. To become a creature with less sins than she. She was still her, of course, but there was something calming about the fact that she could not be herself physically when she wanted to.
She'd never forget the first time she succeeded in transforming without a wand. That was perhaps the second best thing to ever happen to her. She remembered looking at herself in the mirror, her light fur and dark eyes, much like her human form. She looked like a scrappy little thing, but she knew what she was capable of. A coyote is a creature with the ability to adapt to its environment to survive, being able to thrive in a desert and on the fringes of a city. A coyote did what it needed to to survive, no matter what. Just like her. Sometimes, after she'd learned to transform without a wand, but hadn’t quite gotten it down completely she would transform in the middle of the night and wake up in the nude. The other girls thought it was very odd, but… Well, Tali just passed it off like that was how she slept.
When the war broke out she stood and supported the death eaters and received quite a few bumps and bruises along the way, but she had her life, just like she always knew she would.
