Lyra had finally managed to get away from Eadric. He had been sticking to her like glue ever since he found out about Liam. She knew that really it was her fault; she had given him far too much occasion to worry by going to him in tears after that day in Hogsmeade. It wasn't that she minded spending time with Eadric, but she wanted to see Liam too, and she wasn't too excited to get the two of them in the same room together.
Eadric had told Lyra that he had gone to find Liam, to 'voice some concerns', and that he didn't like him. Lyra had been crestfallen to hear that her brother didn't like Liam, because Eadric's opinion meant a lot to her. But she knew that Eadric was liable to dislike any boy who showed an interest in his sister, so she didn't take it as a rule on Liam's personality. She knew Liam was a good guy, and that was good enough for her. She would have vastly preferred that Eadric give her his blessing, because she hated going behind his back and upsetting him, but she was going to do what she wanted to anyway. And right now she was going to meet Liam.
They had agreed to meet on the lawns after dinner. Lyra had told Eadric that she was going to the Library, thinking she could go see Liam, come back and have Eadric be none the wiser. But to her dismay he had decided to go with her. They had made it half way there, when Lyra said that she had forgotten a book she needed. She told Eadric to go on ahead and get them a table, and she'd run back for it. Eadric was probably still wondering where she was. She hoped he wasn't too worried... he'd be mad, but he'd get over it. He always did.
Lyra walked out onto the lawns in front of the school, far enough away that they wouldn't be bothered by other students, or by Eadric if he decided to take a look around the grounds for Lyra. The sun was low in the sky, and Lyra knew it would set soon. She knew the sunset times pretty well, because when the sun set was invariably linked to when the moon rose. Lyra sat down on the grass, and waited, biting her bottom lip as she worried about Eadric.

Ever since Eadric had found Liam in the halls that day it became excruciatingly more difficult to talk to Lyra, let alone talk to Lyra alone. They'd shared short conversations here and there if they passed each other in the halls, but Eadric was always around, just like he said he'd be. And as much as Liam respected the well-being and wants of her older brother and twin, it was getting to be a bloody pain. But Liam wouldn't allow it to deter him, and he was thankful that they'd made plans to meet after dinner out by the lawns. Liam was open with where he'd be going with Aeryn after dinner, and she'd told him to have fun, and not to do anything she wouldn't do. He'd laughed and shook his head and promised her he wouldn't.
He'd left the great hall and he was thankful not to see Eadric anywhere in sight. He was incredibly curious to see how Lyra planned to get rid of her older brother, who always seemed to be around. Not that he blamed him. He was trying to protect Lyra, and he said that he'd be around, and watching him very closely. And Eadric very much followed his word. To the tee. Perhaps too closely. Too closely for Liam's liking, at least. Apparently too closely for Lyra's liking as well considering it had been her idea to meet outside the lawns. So with a belly full of dinner he made his way out into the entrance hall and out of the castle. The sun was close to setting and it was the slightest bit chilly, but still warm.
He glanced around the lawns, searching through the several students that were still mulling about, searching for the one face he wanted to see. He grinned when he spotted her sitting on the lawn and made his way to her. He walked past several groups of students and was happy that Lyra had chosen a spot that was away from most of the students. As he approached though he saw a look of worry on her face which caused him to furrow his brow.
"Lyra," he said with a grin before his face grew somewhat serious. "It's good to see you... but you look... worried? Are you okay?" The last thing he wanted to do was to have their relationship... or whatever it was they were, to cause her any stress. He could tell just by the way that Lyra had talked about Eadric that she valued his opinion, and that she loved him very much. He'd not want to come between them. And yet, at the same time, he very much did want to come between them. Not because he was vindictive or selfish, but because he knew that Lyra liked him as much as he liked her, or so it seemed. Basically, he just didn't want to mess this up one way or another, and part of him felt like no matter what he did that that would happen.

Lyra heard a familiar voice behind her, and turned her head, smiling. For some reason she was always slightly relieved when Liam showed up, as though she still expected him not to. Which was ridiculous, but still...
Liam said that Lyra looked worried, and she frowned slightly. She hadn't meant to let him see her worry, and she didn't want him to feel bad about the situation with Eadric. He just wouldn't understand the way things were between the twins. Anything that happened, Eadric would get over it.
"It's nothing," she said, waving a hand dismissively. "I'm just thinking about Eadric, I had to lie to him to get here... but its fine, honestly. He'll get over it. And hi," she smiled as she finished with what she should have started with.
Liam looked very serious, and Lyra pulled an equally serious face, mimicking him (and, it had to be said, teasing him). "Sit down," she said, in his serious tone, before smiling to show that she was joking.
Lyra looked back out over the grounds, at the setting sun, feeling glad that this time she didn't have to worry about it. Tonight, like most nights, the sun would set and Lyra would stay Lyra. In fact they were almost as far from the full moon as it was possible to be now, so she was feeling more like 'herself' than ever. Lyra realised that this was the first time Liam had really spent time with her without any of her wolfish traits showing, without her having to worry about getting ill or pushing herself too far.

Liam waited for Lyra to speak, and when she did he felt himself cracking a smile. As bad as he felt about her worrying Eadric, the way she dismissed it, and the hi she tacked on at the end of the sentence just had him grinning. He waved a small hand to her, but then she pulled a serious face and he raised a brow slightly. She told him to sit down and the smile that flashed across her face diminished his worries and had him chuckling.
"Sorry," he apologized, slightly embarrassed. Lyra had a very unique way of making him feel stupid. It wasn't a bad thing. She just seemed to be very good at pointing out when he was too formal, or too serious, or too anything. It was actually rather a good thing. He needed someone like that in his life. Someone to teach him to loosen up just the slightest bit. Sometimes he got so bogged down on doing what was right or proper or courteous that he kind of forgot that it was relatively simple for him to just sit down, relax, and have fun. But Lyra always seemed to bring that out in him, and he rather enjoyed it.
"Yes ma'am," he said with a grin as he took a seat next to her and surveyed the groups of students that were around them briefly. The sun was sinking, so he knew that most of them would likely be going inside soon and he and Lyra would have the whole of the grounds to themselves. His eyes then focused on the setting sun that was before them. It was really a beautiful sight, and Liam was thankful to be in such good company to enjoy it with.
"I'm glad you were able to get away for a bit, even if you had to lie," he admitted with a small sigh as he turned his eyes to see Lyra's profile once more.

Lyra shook her head, looking out over the sunset. It was beautiful, and she was relishing being able to enjoy it like a normal person.
"Its just lying to Eadric that I don't like," she said, her eyes still on the myriad of colours in the sky. "I don't mind lying. I'm good at it, not even Eadric can tell. Although he's probably figured it out by now." Even Lyra wasn't a good enough liar to cover up the fact that she hadn't returned to the library when she said she would. But the fact that Eadric couldn't tell when Lyra was lying should give some impression of just how good a liar Lyra was. Eadric could tell everything about her, he could read her like a book, except for when she lied.
Lyra realised what Liam might take from that, and turned to look at him quickly. "I mean, I don't do it all the time," she said, "I'm not a mythomaniac. And I haven't lied to you..." it was true, she hadn't told Liam anything but the truth. Something about him, the way he seemed so moral and proper all the time, would make her feel ashamed to lie to him. She didn't think that Liam had ever been dishonest in his life. She smiled sheepishly, and then looked back to the sunset, unable to keep her eyes off it for too long.
She wondered if Liam would want to go in once it got dark. If so, then their time together was very limited. The few students around them were already picking up and leaving. Lyra didn't mind the dark (she was the thing that went bump in the night, after all), in fact she felt rather at home in it. Whether or not she liked it, the wolf was part of her nature. At night was the only time when she could be both wolf and girl, although not together. It was an either/or kind of situation. But she had never, and would never be able to (though she would never want to) be a wolf during the day time. Werewolves were creatures of the night, and for better or worse Lyra was a Werewolf.
Even tonight, on a night when she didn't change, she was a Werewolf. Most of the time she was a girl, sometimes she was a wolf, but she was always, and always would be, a Werewolf. It was that kind of finality, that kind of constant state of always being this way, that had made becoming a Werewolf so hard to deal with. Almost all pains can be comforted with promises of 'this too shall pass'. Lyra knew that her pain would never pass. Not until she died.
She shook herself out of her morbid thoughts, out of the dark place that she had spent her thirteenth year (and more, if she was honest with herself), and back to the here and now, with Liam and the beautiful sunset. She had lied to her brother to steal this moment with him, so she shouldn't waste it.

Lyra mentioned that she didn't like lying to Eadric, which he could understand. If he'd had to lie about where he was going to Aeryn or Sophie or Bran he would have felt uncomfortable, too. His eyes had been focused on the sinking sun in front of him as the sky was streaked with oranges, purples and pinks. But as she said she was good at lying he felt his head turn in her direction, a slight look of surprise on his face. So she was really that good at lying? That her own twin couldn't believe her? That could be dangerous....
And it was almost like she was reading his mind, as she said she'd never lied to him. He stared at her for a moment, but he didn't have to think on her words. He knew she was telling the truth. What reason did she have to lie to him? None that he could think of. Eadric on the other hand... Well, she wouldn't have to lie to him if he hadn't been so set on disliking whatever it was that she had with Liam. But he also knew Lyra was right, Eadric probably knew what she was up to by now, but Liam didn't let that worry or intimidate him. He could handle Eadric should the need arise, but he doubted that he ever would.
"I know you've never lied to me, Lyra," he said with a grin before his eyes looked back to the sun that was slowly descending past the tree point. The sky was bright and dim all at the same time. "Does that mean he'll come looking for you?" He couldn't help but ask. The answer would probably be no. Liam hoped it would be no. He wasn't often a selfish person, but this was one of those times when he was absolutely going to be selfish. Eadric had spent enough time trying to keep them apart, and now they finally had a chance to be together. Liam felt a smile curling at his lips as he looked to Lyra once again, the sinking sun spread across her face, covering her in an orange hue. She really was beautiful. How had not people more seen this? How had he gotten so lucky?
"So what did you tell him, anyway? I find it hard to believe that someone who seems as innocent as you could be a good liar," he said with a smirk. He knew by now that Lyra didn't like being compared to an innocent, little girl, so he, too, knew what to say to push her buttons the slightest bit, and to tease her when he felt like it. This was one of those times, and he hoped the grin that was spread across his face was proof of that.

Lyra shook her head as Liam asked if Eadric would come looking for her. "No," she said, "I doubt it, at least. He's not like that. He's not controlling, he's just... I know that from the outside it seems like he wants to lock me up in a little box and throw away the key," she grimaced slightly, not liking the sound of that one bit. "But really he just wants me to be safe, and happy... and he'd sacrifice a lot for that. He has sacrificed a lot for that."
Lyra knew that if Eadric didn't have her for a sister, his life would be very different. He would probably be much less serious, and be able to enjoy himself more. He would have more friends, and not get into fights. He would have been able to be a normal thirteen year old instead of having to grow up so fast. His teenage years might have been something he could have enjoyed. Sometimes Eadric seemed almost middle aged, not a boy of sixteen. She felt sometimes like she'd dragged him down with her.
Thinking of all Eadric had given up for her made Lyra feel guilty about lying to him, and she glanced back at the castle, wondering if she should go back inside. She didn't want to leave Liam, but she didn't want to make Eadric worry.
Liam asked Lyra what she had told Eadric, and she was so wrapped up in her thoughts and guilty feelings that she barely even noticed the comment about her being 'innocent'. "Oh," she said, looking back at Liam and away from the castle, "I told him I was going to the Library first, but then he wanted to go with me... so halfway there I told him I'd forgotten a book, and sent him ahead to get a table." The guilty knot in her stomach twisted unpleasantly as she thought of Eadric waiting for her.
She saw that Liam was smiling, and wondered why, then realised it would be because he had called her innocent; he was teasing her. Lyra smiled, but her heart wasn't really in it. Lyra wasn't innocent, and it wasn't because she lied. How could someone who had to be restrained, whether by potion or by chains, once a month to stop them from going on a murderous rampage possibly be 'innocent'?

Lyra said that Eadric wouldn’t come searching for her, and he felt a slight relief rush over him. At least he wouldn’t have to keep looking over his shoulder to see if big brother was storming their way. He could hear the sadness in her voice, though, as she spoke of how Eadric wasn’t what he seemed. He didn’t want to lock her up and throw away the key. His eyes widened slightly at the imagery and he watched as Lyra pulled a face as well. It was a pretty odd, depressing sentence, but hearing the sadness in her voice made him feel the slightest bit guilty for even bringing it up. Eadric just wanted Lyra to be happy and safe, and while Liam could see that, and he agreed with why, there was a part of him that wondered if Eadric thought he was the only one who could keep her safe. It was normal for an older brother, even if it were only by minutes, to worry about his younger sister and some boy that he didn’t know at all. But the words that Eadric has used in the hallway that day, there was just something more there that Liam couldn’t quite place.
Do you really think you’re what’s best for her? The words echoed in his head for a moment. He remembered the angry look in Eadric’s eyes, and while Liam thought he handled the situation quite well… He just wasn’t sure. He didn’t think he was what’s best for Lyra. He could be, if Lyra wanted him to be. But only Lyra could make that decision, and it felt a little bit like Eadric felt like he was what’s best for her because he’d been there. Because he knows how to handle things. But open-minded people learn rather quickly, and Liam was very much an open-minded person, for the most part. He could learn whatever it was that Eadric knew, and he knew that if it came to it he would protect Lyra and care for her in any way possible. He looked toward Lyra and offered her a small smile.
”He’s a good brother,” he said. He felt like it was a weak statement, but it was all he could really offer Lyra in that moment. He could tell just by the look on her face that her mind was elsewhere, and the simple ‘oh’ and half-hearted smile that followed his teasing were only further proof of that. Still, as disheartened as he was, his face showed no proof of that. He watched as her eyes pulled from the castle and back to him. It was a decent lie that she’d told him. If Aeryn had pulled the same stunt on him he would’ve believed her, even though Aeryn was a horrible liar. Still, the smile that graced her face wasn’t the usual, happy smile Liam had grown so fond of seeing.
He scooted the slightest bit closer to her, put his arm around her shoulders, and offered her a small smile.
”If you want to go find him, you can. I don’t want our time together to cause you stress or guilt,” he said, and as much as he didn’t want her to leave he meant what he said. He would not hinder Lyra one way or another. If she wanted to get up and go find Eadric he’d not stop her. His eyes remained locked on her as they both rested in the dim glow of the sun, which was now almost completely sunken beneath the trees. But there was still a somewhat haunting glow of light that was streaking the sky. But Liam didn’t care much for the sunset right now. His eyes were locked on Lyra’s, and as much as he might not have wanted to smile in that instant, he couldn’t find the power within himself to stop it from crossing his face. She was beautiful, even in her darkest hours before the full moon, she’d always been beautiful. In the back of his mind he wondered if anyone had ever told her that. He’d guessed probably not, but she certainly deserved to know.
”This is random,” he began with a small, somewhat embarrassed smile as his eyes trailed to the ground. He’d never been particularly good at complimenting girls, no matter how many girls may have come after him over the years. He was never interested in any of them. ”But I want you to know that you’re beautiful.” And in that instant he made a split-second decision and closed the distance between them, placing a soft, quick kiss on her lips before pulling away. He grinned at her, a little embarrassed as his heart hammered within his chest, but feeling more pleased than anything else. The happiness was quick to fade though as he wondered if he’d moved too quickly.
”I’m sorry... I shouldn't have done that...” he said, letting out a slightly embarrassed chuckle before his eyes found hers once more. ”You can go find Eadric now if you want to.” He tried to fight the heat that he knew was in his cheeks, but it was no use. He just hoped he didn’t ruin whatever it was that they had by being too bold… too wrapped up in his thoughts to see what the logical path of action would be. He didn’t often make decisions without thinking, and there was a reason for that. To avoid getting into situations like this.

Lyra was surprised but pleased when Liam scooted closer to her and put his arm around her. It seemed like an odd gesture right now, since she clearly hadn't been very engaged. Her mind had been on her brother, and she had been worried she might be putting Liam off. She knew Liam and Eadric didn't really get along.
But instead of pulling away he had put his arm around her shoulders. He was warm, and he smelt nice, Lyra couldn't help but noticing. She smiled, at this time it was much more genuine. She was still worried about Eadric and his reaction, but she wanted to leave less and less.
She shook her head as Liam said that if she wanted to go and find Eadric, she could. "No," she said, more sure this time, "no, I don't want to... Eadric will be fine, he'll understand, he always does. And I'm not stressed." She didn't want Liam to think that he had to treat her like she had nerves of glass.
Lyra looked at Liam expectantly, a slight smile on her face, when he said something was 'random', wondering what exactly she was about to be treated with. She was surprised again when he told her that she was beautiful. No one ever told her that; it wasn't as though she had friends or boyfriends who would compliment her, and it would be weird for her brother to call her beautiful. Liam looked almost as flustered as she felt, but before she had time to really register any of this, Liam had pressed his lips against hers.
They were only there for a moment, and almost before Lyra could react they were gone. His lips were soft and warm, and when he had kissed her her heart had lurched in her chest. Lyra blushed furiously, and was only slightly appeased by the fact that Liam seemed to be doing the same. She looked away, smiling, trying to hide her blush. What sort of sixteen year old girl blushed so much at a peck on the lips?
He started to say that he shouldn't have done that, and Lyra shook her head, laughing slightly. "No, its... fine," she said, smiling at her lack of being able to find a suitable word. "No ones ever..." she trailed off, and her cheeks seemed to redden even further, if that were possible. No one had ever kissed her before.
Liam mentioned going to find Eadric, and Lyra laughed again. No, she didn't think she'd be able to face Eadric for the rest of the night; even being as good of a liar as she was, he was sure to see the truth written all over her face.

A wave of relief washed over Liam as Lyra said his kiss had been... fine, and the sound of her laughter as he suggested she go find Eadric had him laughing at not only himself but at the entire situation. She'd turned her head to avoid being seen blushing, but Liam knew exactly what she was doing. He couldn't tell whether or not she was embarrassed about the fact that no one had ever kissed her, but that didn't bother him. He smirked slightly before he reached up and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Well, I'm glad I got to be the first," he said, a somewhat proud grin falling across his face as he stared back at her. It didn't surprise him that no one had told Lyra she was beautiful before... or kissed her, but that didn't mean she shouldn't be. He didn't even realize his hand was still resting on the side of her face until he was pulled from his thoughts as he felt her cheek beneath his fingers. He grinned at her before deciding it was safe enough to be bold once more. He held his hand on her cheek before he pressed his lips against hers, this time the slightest bit more forceful, staying there the slightest bit longer.
It was a somewhat indescribably nice feelings, his lips on hers, and this time when he pulled away he was not embarrassed in the slightest. There was still a somewhat silly grin on his face, but he was not embarrassed about that.
"And the second," he said chuckling a bit before finally allowing his hand to fall back to the ground. The sun was almost fully set now, and darkness was beginning to surround them, but Liam didn't care about that.

Liam was laughing too, which made Lyra feel much less self concious about her reaction. He said that he was glad to be the first, and she blushed again. It was embarrassing, never having been kissed... although she supposed she didn't have to worry about that any more. She had been kissed now. Liam Ward had kissed her.
And then he kissed her again, and this time his lips were slightly more forceful, and stayed on hers for longer. She had time to drink it all in, the way he tasted, the way it felt, and time to react. She moved her lips slightly against his, feeling as though sparks must be flying from where their lips met. Her stomach was filled with butterflies, but it wasn't an unpleasant feeling.
He pulled away, and Lyra giggle again, looking down. She didn't know how long it would take for her to be confident about all this romance business. Maybe she never would be, maybe it was just how she was, nothing to do with inexperience.
She looked back up at Liam, and saw what she expected must be her own expression mirrored on his face. "Careful not to let Eadric see you any time soon," she said, grinning, "he'll read the truth on your face as easily as if it were written in a book." Liam looked happy, and that pleased Lyra to no end. The beauty of kissing, she decided, wasn't just in the wonderful feeling it gave you; it was in knowing that the person you were with was feeling the same way, too. That you were making them feel that way. Lyra wasn't sure if anything could compare to that.
Lyra hoped that Liam would kiss her again, but wasn't quite at the stage where she would be comfortable closing the gap between them herself. She was still too new at all this. She supposed Liam must have some experience, and found herself wondering just how much.

Lyra giggled softly again as her eyes fell to the ground, and Liam’s grin remained plastered on his face. He was filled with a giddy kind of feeling, knowing that he was the one who made her smile, made her laugh. She didn’t seem as embarrassed that time, despite her giggling. He was more than content with the way things were going between them, and when Lyra mentioned that Liam should avoid Eadric for a while he let out a laugh as he looked at her, beaming.
”Let him. I’ve nothing to hide. He’s sure to see you before he sees me, little miss giggles. Don’t think he won’t know what you’ve been up to either,” he said with a smirk. It was nice to just be able to sit and laugh and kiss a girl without having her drooling over him. A lot of girls had fancied him over the years, and while he’d had some fun with a few of them, none of them had ever felt like whatever this was with Lyra except for his girlfriend in his fourth year, but even that was different than this. He had only been with his ex-girlfriend because she wouldn’t leave him alone… but Lyra… He wanted to be around Lyra. He wanted to see her smile and hear her laugh, and now that they’d kissed, he wanted to kiss her.
His thoughts continued to wander about what had just happened. He’d kissed Lyra Avery, and the joy he felt from that simple action was one that wasn’t going away anytime soon. Not that he ever wanted it to, really. A grin formed on his face once more as he looked around them, only now registering that it was getting darker and darker. He smirked slightly as his eyes found her and they began adjusting to the dimly lit night.
”I think we should definitely do this more often,” he said with a grin, and he meant it. It was nice to be able to see Lyra without anyone else around, where the pair of them could really just be themselves.

Lyra laughed again as Liam said that he had nothing to hide from Eadric, although this time slightly nervously. "Famous last words," she said, nudging him slightly with her shoulder. She was a bit nervous about what was sure to be a confrontation between Eadric and Liam. There was just too much tension, too many emotions running high. Eadric was sure that Liam was not what was best for her, and he wouldn't be Eadric if he just sat by and let that be.
But Lyra wasn't sure that she wanted what was best for her. She didn't always want to be safe, and protected. Sure, some things she would rather not face, but she was facing them non the less. So she thought she could handle the ups and downs of a romance.
But of course, she had no experience with any of it. What did she know? Eadric had never had a girlfriend, but that was by choice. He had had lots of girls who wanted to date him, girls he'd pushed away for various reasons. So maybe he did know better than she did? Maybe she'd come to regret her decisions.
Looking at Liam now, though, it was hard to feel that way. He was so good, he seemed so trustworthy. She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, blushing slightly even as she did it. "We definitely should," she said. She'd work around Eadric, somehow. She could make him understand. This would all work out. It had to.
note ; sorry its short!

Liam smirked as Lyra said those were famous last words. He felt her elbow ribbing his sides and he let out a small laugh.
"Oh so you're saying you go 'round snogging lots of boys then? Merlin, you are a good liar," he said with a grin before be brought up a hand to ruffle her hair lightly and elbow her himself. He really wasn't afraid of Eadric, but he knew the idea of Eadric disliking Liam probably didn't mesh very well with Lyra, so he brought his lips to her forehead and placed a gentle kiss there.
"I'll be on my best behavior," he said with a quick wink. But the smile never left his face, and his eyes never left hers as the darkness continued to creep around them. Truth be told there wasn't a place he'd rather be. Everything with Lyra was so new, but so simple, and so much fun. He turned out to look toward the grounds, to see if there was anyone even still out there with them, but his thoughts didn’t get far because the next thing he knew Lyra’s lips were pressed against his cheek. He smirked, turning his head toward her. He knew she was blushing, He felt her lean over and kiss his cheek and he smirked, turning his head toward her once more with a smile.
”You can do better than that,” he said with a grin before he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers, bringing his hand behind her neck and holding her head in place, and this time he left his lips there, pressed against hers as he took in how she tasted. The feeling of kissing her was almost addicting, and this time he deepened the kiss the slightest bit, his eyes closed. He felt his blood turn to fire in his veins as an excited heat rushed through him, and he pulled away for only a second before kissing her again.

"Oh so you're saying you go 'round snogging lots of boys then? Merlin, you are a good liar,"
Lyra laughed aloud as Liam said that, shaking her head again. "Hardly," she said, thinking that nothing could be further from the truth. Maybe if she had, Eadric would have gotten used to the idea. But as it was she'd been a perfect little angel all her life, and so Eadric was totally unprepared. Almost as unprepared as Lyra was herself.
She wondered if other girls thought about their brothers quite so much when it came to deciding who to kiss, and thought that no, they probably didn't. But then again Lyra and Eadric didn't have a normal brother/sister relationship. They were twins, and she couldn't just shake him off when she felt like it. She couldn't pretend that what she did wouldn't affect him. But still, this was Lyra's life, and really who she kissed was her business. If Eadric didn't want to see it... well no, Eadric wouldn't be seeing it, that she was sure of.
”You can do better than that,”
He kissed her again, and this time he didn't pull away. He deepened it, and Lyra felt herself reacting instinctively. Her whole body reacted to the way he kissed her, and she felt her heart pounding. Her mind was full of him, and this kiss. He pulled away for a moment, and Lyra had been about to pull him back, despite her shyness, but then his lips returned, pressing against hers. Acting wholly on instinct, she wound her arms around his neck, pulling herself closer to him. Her movements were unsure and tentative, and a few nervous butterflies still flitted around in her stomach. But her instincts seemed to be telling her what to do, even if she hadn't a clue.
